That's because in Wollof, "mew" (pronounced "miaow") means "milk" - they're just telling you what they want, but being obscure about it, as cats do.

There are quite a few humans who do that, too... Though they will make a slight effort by speaking more loudly.

In an act of liberation, I threw away all the paper stuff I never had the time to sort through, and which won't be important any more anyway (special offers, new companies etc).

That must have felt good. In the weeks before I left my last job I made sure I set aside a few moments every day for taking some of my stock of Important Official Instructions and other corporate twaddle and feeding it all through the shredder.

I was tidying out my loft on Sunday - I found a school book I'd written in 1977, when I was 5 years old!
My handwriting hasn't improved much...

I think I would seriously regret throwing away my school books. I remember once being able to help one of my sons out when he asked about Elizabeth I's Poor Laws - there it all was, in my neat 14-year-old handwriting (mine has greatly deteriorated since then, MH)
And all those recipes in our domestic science books. I've even check out stuff in my physics exercise books, but unfortunately I seem to have mislaid my biology books.

I haven't started yet.
And I'm not ignoring anybody, it just takes me at least five minutes for each step (1. loading page to read 2. loading reply box 3 updating 4. looking for latest post)

It's fine now. It's usually OK later.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
