I'm so sorry to hear the bad news, Bel. I will have fingers and toes crossed that you'll find something else which won't pay crap or require an unreasonable work schedule. With luck that will happen before the store closes.

There are all sorts of weird jobs out there you may never have heard of. Here's one: http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2010/01/26.html.

Really sorry to hear that - especially since I know it won't be easy to find something new.
My advice: go to the unemployment office asap, and ask right away they should give you a paper allowing you to get a professional job searcher for you (you might find most of them pretty useless, but some are good at their jobs). And, seeing you have worked at one place that long, you might want a training for applications (again: most are useless, but some might be helpful). As for getting in touch with people who might be able to help finding something: I found that xing is a good network....

anyway, I keep my fingers crossed smiley - goodluck

smiley - sorry to hear your news and my best wishes and thoughts are with you.

I hope that things work out well. My boss informed me earlier this week 'See it as an opportunity and a positive.'

Not so easy.

Anything I can do to help, just ask... smiley - hug

smiley - hugTough break, B'El! The unemployment is awful over here, too. I've lost several students because parents lost jobs, and I have one paying for lessons by doing odd jobs for me now.
Things have to get better soon!
Still, at least you have several months to plan. Maybe you'll find something wonderful, or at least accomplish something meaningful in your time off.
(I had temporarily lost my main gig when I first found H2!)
Rechanneling the creative energy that goes into one's work can have some surprising results.

And I agree that translating might be a good fit for you. Sounds like a gig where you could make your own hours and work from home too!

Thanks everybody. smiley - hug

I'll cope. It's not such a big loss of money as I never earned much - the tax office did, though.

I've go enough time to think about what I would like to do, then try and find something. smiley - smiley
