Oh, I understand them. After all, a quirky entry on gates is much more likely to draw in readers than some entries about food in a country and region few Brits will ever visit. And that's the point I made: if I can't write entries like those on the FP, I'd best stop trying.

Are you codding me?
There's nothing wrong with your style of writing, nor your subjects..

Well, that's the nearest we have to a sword in smileys..

I never said there was something wrong with them, just that they aren't good/interesting enough for the unbiased.

Bel, there is nothing wrong with your writing. Write about what interests you and you will enjoy it more, and there are sure to be people who are interested, even though they don't comment. We English are surely not that insular Well, my friends aren't. One of the joys of the Internet is finding out about other countries and people.
It seems to me that the Edited Guide can be factual and dry, and Peer Review over pernickety, but that does not make it less valuable.

I've never had a problem with Peer review, Webbie. In fact, if it hadn't been for the positive and friendly reaction in PR, I'd probably have stopped writing long ago.

So what is?
You wouldn't post this if you didn't want people to convince you So give me a hint where to start

Thanks, Mags.
Sorry, Mala, but I am serious. I didn't write this with the intention of fishing for compliments.

Oh I really hope you don't stop writing Guide Entries!
One of the nice things about the edited guide is the variety of styles that it accommodates, and plain old factual stuff is just as important (and indeed more useful) than quirky funny entries.

Yes, but then I can still do that - it's not necessary to have anything edited, though.

We have had this conversation many times... Your writing is good!
You don't have to be amusing in Entries. We know from other threads that you have a fantastic sense of humour
Just write what you are comfortable doing, I don't think anyone would deny that you write interesting EGEs, and they are always full of knowledge - Only you can put that across

Apologies if this is a bit blunt Bel, sounds to me like you're having a bout of 'lack of self - confidence' here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your writing, your writing style or content. Not only that but you also do well in encouraging others to have a go.
Your humour comes through in your RR's and in general throughout the community, no-one can accuse you of being 'straight-laced or boring', far from it.
None of us really know who reads our work when its finally edited, it's not like, for example, writing a publication for sale where sales figures measure the rate of success.
Take a break but don't stop writing for the EG, your work is as valuable and worthy as anyone elses.
