It's just an anagram, hstwrd, it will be back to normal after Halloween.
I'm trying to take more pictures, it's fun. I think I'll have to use a tripod occasionally, though.

My camera didn't come with onme, either. It has a socket for one, though.

No, the husband has a tripod for one of his old cameras - and it fits in the socket of my camera, I checked that.

I really, really love big, clunky, heavy old 35mm cameras from the DDR and the USSR. I used to have one (Zeiss) which took excellent photographs, and it was just about as indestructible as the black box on an aeroplane. Not theft-proof, alas.
I might have to trawl Ebay now...

I have an old Zorki 4k, complete with turret viewfinder, like this one:

It's interesting: with the old camera I was used to estimate the distance, adjust the aperture according to which light there was, etc, etc. All this took some time before you could actually make your photo. Then with the digital camera, it all was automatic: aperture, autozoom - just click and that's it.
Now I have to set the camera each time I switch it on (for aome reason it 'forgets' the former settings. That needs getting used to.

i used to have a russian camera. a zenit. coincidentally it weighed just as much as a russian tractor. so it was also usable as an anchor

I love the heaviness, though. It lets you know you're really holding a camera. No flimsy plastic in sight!
B'el mentioned the shaky hand thing earlier. I found that the extra weight made any handshaking much less of a problem.

yes. correct. for about two minutes. then your hands will tremble from the weight

Thanks, pheloxi. I'll make sure not to swallow it and glue it to a part of the camera I don't touch.

Pheloxi's right. Just think how stupid you'd feel explaining that you're in A&R because you glued lead to your camera.
