What can I say...I was in at the beginning of Uba's meteoric rise to the dizzy heights of fame in the world of spud excellence
Is this audit to do with the company then? Reminds me of M&S
Hello
LadyChatterly Posted Jun 17, 2003
Since you're no longer online during working hours, I'm assuming that you're making all the appropriate moves to gain your next promotion...grovelling etc
Either that or you're out hoeing up the spuds to stop them going green
Hello
Uubbaguubba - Minister of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - Keeper of the Tuber Count Posted Jun 17, 2003
I see I've given a bad impression of myself . Grovelling's not my style....maybe it's something i should adopt!
Just very busy...and very hot , is it scorching up at BC?
You'll be breaking up for summer soon won't you? Any plans - Scarborough, Filey, Seahouses...ah the memories
Hello
LadyChatterly Posted Jun 17, 2003
It's rarely scorching up here...was for about half an hour on Sunday
No bad impression, just my poor attempt at wit
I have two plans for the summer...Shania and then a short visit to Darlington
Went to a concert at school this evening...Junior Orchestra and then Chamber Choir. First time the choir have performed and they were really good. Their final number was 'You'll Never Walk Alone'...had a very unexpected effect on me.

Darlington, oh dear, have you got yourself in somebodies bad books .
I've never heard a chamber choir sing, so I don't know what kind of effect they have - expected or unexpected .

Hello
Well, I fully expected it to be serious...connotations of 'Chamber' but they had a varied programme, including one of my favourites 'The Water of Tyne' and 'The Bare Necessities'(which isn't one of my favourites)
More about Darlington later.
You must be VERY busy!

Hi Helen
Can't say I know 'the water of Tyne', is it anything like 'fog on the Tyne'? I do like 'bare necessities' though, can't beat a bit of Balou .
What is your taste in music, apart from Shania?
Yes, I'm very very busy....don't seem to have time to stop and relax....just switching between work and sleep at the moment. Don't get me wrong it's a lot better than trying to find things to do all day. I'll be able to chill out in September and catch my breathe ready for the run up to xmas !
Hello
LadyChatterly Posted Jun 19, 2003
Some very cool smilies there
Fog on the Tyne? I'm not familiar with that one and, what does that wink mean?
I have rather varied taste in music...from classical to pop. I tend to go for individual pieces rather than particular genres. However, I'm not fond of some of the techno stuff that teenagers seem to addicted to! one of my favourites is from Elgar's Enigma Variations...Nimrod...suitable for weddings and funerals Hard to give examples. You know what it's like...someone asks for something and your mind goes a complete blank lol If I remember I'll send you a message.
I'm having trouble envisaging your job although I can understand that Christmas might be busy...all those people eating roast potatoes
Did I tell you that this weekend is an Exeat? I, however, am working...6pm to 9.30pm!
Are you having a holiday with Ben?
Hello
Uubbaguubba - Minister of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - Keeper of the Tuber Count Posted Jun 20, 2003
The potato business is run around several peaks - xmas, jersey, import, new crop, old crop and back to xmas. Mainly due to the many different varieties available they're popular all year round, unlike say parsnips and turnips which are seen as winter veg (so orders are very low between spring and autumn). Carrots are another product popular throughout the year; they only have three peaks - xmas, import and new crop, so a bit more time to relax.
Do you work most weekends? Is it at the school?
As for holidays, yes I intend to go away but I've no idea where to yet!
Fog on the Tyne was a 'hit' for Lindisfarne in the 70's, then made popular in the 80's when it was released by Gazza
Hello
LadyChatterly Posted Jun 20, 2003
I feel that I'm becoming quite knowledgable about root vegetables
We work Saturday mornings here but also do 'Duties' every term when we work until 9pm (A day school wouldn't need to do this). The Exeat is a weekend when we don't work Saturday mornings (once a half-term)but obviously Boarders have to be looked after. They are going out for the day with a couple of my colleagues and I'm covering the evening on this occasion.
In two weeks of course...this will be no more
'Fog on the Tyne' is another nom de plume of mine Does this mean you're a fan of Lindisfarne?

I've become a bit of a produce bore over the last couple of years! This has developed into a sad habit of checking the veg counters every time I go shopping...Ben is quite an expert .
How long are you off for? Not sure if all schools are the same with regards to holidays?
Fan would be stretching it a bit far...I don't dislike them, but I don't have any of their records. Can't say I can recall 'Nimrod', although I'm sure I've heard it, into The Planets at the moment - especially Jupiter. 'I vow to thee my country' is my fave hymn by a country mile ( I'd never sing it myself, like nails on a blackboard ) .

I have started watching a film called 'Irreversible' Don't let Ben watch it.
Hello
LadyChatterly Posted Jun 21, 2003
It made more sense when I'd watched it all the way through. Interesting but very, very violent!
I expect you're dragging poor Ben round the local supermarkets/produce markets
Hello
Uubbaguubba - Minister of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - Keeper of the Tuber Count Posted Jun 21, 2003
Yes indeed, a quick trip to Sainsburys...very good quality potatoes(if a bit expensive)
Then onto getting Ben some holiday clothes...he's going to Spain next month.
Don't know the film, what's it about?
Hello
LadyChatterly Posted Jun 22, 2003
If I told you then...
It's French with subtitles...I read about it in the Sunday Times review and then one of my Upper VIth who's just got a job in Blockbusters also metioned it. Some of it's (most?) quite nasty indeed but the idea is interesting and once you start watching it, it's hard to stop. It has the worst rape scene I've ever seen in my life...which may give you some clue. trouble is, it's one of those films which leave no hope...always a turn off for me.
I can recommend 'Amelie' if you haven't seen it...also French...wonderful...saw it at the cinema and then bought it. It's in Blockbusters now. Everyone who's seen it raves about it :o)
Just finished watching another...I'll tell you later...I have to get on and finish my reports.
LOL re Sainsbury's btw
Are you having a lazy Sunday then?
Hello
Uubbaguubba - Minister of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - Keeper of the Tuber Count Posted Jun 22, 2003
Not a very lazy Sunday, spent it gardening so far - gym later, then maybe a pub trip!
'Rape' scene....always feel incredibly depressed and aggitated whenever I watch films with them in ! So I think I'll cross it off the list
Reports...sounds like fun...not
