Technology got you down?Tired of troublesome machinery?
Tense, nervous headache?
Then you need....
THE H2G2 LUDDITE MOVEMENT |
For those of you saying "Eh? Luddite? What?", here is a brief history.
A Brief History
Luddites 1811 - 1817
It was the industrial revolution. Britain was waking up to new ideas, some good (such as cleaner water etc), some bad (such as accountants). Traditional home workers were threatened by new giant machines and industrial practices. For some strange reason people began to rotate crops.* In Nottingham, in March 1811, the first ever example of techno-rage appeared*. People who were fearful of the forthcoming war with the machines began to destroy them. The spearhead of this movement? Ned Ludd.*
Despite the government's best efforts, the valiant men and women of the Luddite Movement branched out across the Midlands and north of England. Mills, property and cybernetic organism contruction plants* were attacked and, occasionally, people were killed. In 1813, seventeen Luddites were executed in York and this caused several members to say "Bugger this for a game of soldiers" and quit. The weak fools.
The last big Luddite attack took place at a Loughborough lace factory in February 1817*.
Until now. Mwuhahahahahaha. Ha.
One of our people doing their bit
Brave, brave soul. Now that photocopier won't be making it's obscene mockery of Caxton's press!*Join The H2G2 Luddite Movement!
Although well aware that a Luddite Movement really shouldn't have a web page, we think that this is the best way to drum up business. Every time your computer just randomly dies (taking coursework/accounts/that simulation of a working flux capacitor that you've been working on/or something with it), think of the brave men and women of the H2G2 Luddite Movement. Share your experiences, or plot total world destruction of machines here!*
