HELP_IM_LOST (why are there not enough hours in the day?)

7 is a great age, getting his independence, but you still hold all the strings. Just started to let him play outside, which has to be one of the hardest decisions i have ever had to make with him, it was awful, but i have to let him go, but he has an incredibly strict area that he is allowed to play in, and knows that if he strays from it, he wont be allowed out any more. Im very strict with him, poor kid, i do feel sorry for him at times, as i dont let him get away with anything!!! I dont think i will ever have anymore children, my second son died at birth, and it took a hell of a lot out of me, but hey, thats life!!!

Black tie do's, as long as you go with someone that you can have a good laff with, by ripping everyone else, than they are ok, but yeah, no what you mean about ppl not being themselves, that has to be one of my biggest dislikes, ppl who cant relax and be themselves, drives me up the wall.

Sea rangers, they are the female version of sea cadets, group that i went to, well, we where the loudest group going, and had no discipline whatsoever, when we went to regatta's we just used to sit and laff as they got up in the morning and did there excersies, things like that, we would just sprawl around having a laff and a joke, and than nip of to the pub in the evening, used to be a great craic!!!

Kids do grow up so quickly, before you know it they fly the nest!! Nice that you pay so much interest in your nephews and neices!!! smiley - biggrin

Well enjoy the tennis, and hope Henman does well!!!

Morning Lost,

I am truly very sorry to hear such tragic news, i cannot imagine how tough that must of been for you. I am sure that even now it must be traumatic at times.

As you say though, the life goes on, and we must move on with it or get trampled underfoot. I suppose that each of us has our burdens to bear, grief and trauma to deal with. Without wishing to sound flippant in any way, it is sometimes as if these things are sent to test us. I do believe there is a reason for everything that happens, and that although our paths are largely mapped out for us as individuals, how we deal with things, with our thoughts and actions, shapes our destiny ultimately. I would also say that we have to have the 'rough' to be able to appreciate the 'smooth', and the worse it gets the more we will ultimately enjoy the smooth, providing we stay positive and look for the good in everything.

I hope that all comes out as it is meant to.

Difficult to be light hearted now so i will chat again later. Have a great day.
take care
Noname

Yeah i'm cool...busy working away. I had a couple of hours doing a workshop at 'school' this morning after a productive early morning on an assignment for the journo course.

Thinking of taking a walk just now, but the weather is not looking too clever and i don't fancy getting caught in a rainstorm.

Forget the tennis, Henman went out with a whimper. Hopefully the cricketers will do better, and of course there is the rugby coming up.

I seem to remember you are a Chelsea fan, i went to your homepage and saw it i think.....what do you think of this new buyout by the Russian guy?

You are gonna love this....i'm a Westham fan....i swear that over the years they have given me more grief than women.....lol, they have had my emotions bouncing like a bloody yo yo all too often.... worse than being an England supporter. Oh well....hopefully they will get straight back into the premiership.....doom and gloom if not!!

So how has your day been? i can't say i am too happy with this rain, i guess i had better get used to it though. I promised myself that i was not going to moan once, that when it came down i was simply going to bury myself in a book or some course work.....lol....i can see me getting through quite a few books.

HELP_IM_LOST (why are there not enough hours in the day?)

The rain smiley - grr be nice to have some sun!!! So what authors do you like, if you are going to be doing a lot of reading!!!

Knocked out the tennis, well thats nothing new!!! Same as cricket though eh!!!

West Ham mmmmmmm, dont think i should use any witty comments there!! Couple of lads i no, god, when they got relegated, not happy at all!! And i dare not even try to wind them up on it, i ususally would, but in that case, nope!!!! Shame really, as West Ham really do look after the youngesters that are coming up, and as for Chealsea being brought by the russia, hey, nothing new for Chealsea, after all, think we are a European team any way lol sorry, thought i would put that in before you did!!!

As for my day, great!!1 Dead at work, than i get home, what a nightmare!!! My sis is getting married, and i am trying to sort her hen night out, but her friends are being a nightmare on the plans, but finally got it sorted, than my brother is going to Italy, (our mum lives out there) and im trying to help him sort things out for his holiday, which trying to get a 19 yr old lad to sort things out is a nightmare!!! Was on the phone for about 3 hrs sorting it!!! Dread my phone bill coming in.

Just having a couple of glasses of wine, and chilling now, which is needed!!!

Yep....same as cricket...down down dooby dooby down down........ dooby down 9 (quote from Garfield!!)
I can believe you about the WH boys....i admit we don't take the wind up too well....probably too close to the truth half the time...lol(we can do it to our selves though)

1 Dead at work???......did he drink too much???

Sounds like you are having a lot of...er...fun?....sorting things for the party and your brothers holiday...oh well..i'm sure they love you for it.

I am an avid reader and always have been, although in times gone by it has often been a case of just not having any time to read, especially if i was here in England (too much partying) so a book could sometimes take a couple of months to get through. Regarding fiction there have baan a few authors that i like, James Clavell, Wilbur smith (just finished his latest) and one or two others. I like to read biographys, auto or not, or well written books that make a story out of real life events, particularly historical. At the moment i am reading a great book about the Great Trek, i am thinking of doing a feature on the subject when i have finished.

I bought our local paper last night and was well pleased to see that a match report i wrote last week for one of Max's cricket games was published, kind of made my day for me.

glad to see you chillin... you just gotta do it. As much as i am thrilled to be able to spend this time with the little uns', i realise how stressful it all is.
Just raising my cuppa to you...lol...heres hoping you have a totally calm, cool, great day. Cheers m'dear

My brother and sister, love me for it, smiley - grr there friends are mucking around with all the plans, so they were frustrated with it all, so took it out on me, than apologised for it! Just what i needed! But yeah, all the plans for them now SEEM to be coming along fine!!!

Garfield is good smiley - biggrin but bagpuss is better!!!

I read a lot of Stephen King and James Herbert, but found over the last couple of weeks fed up with the writing, so going to try something different, not sure what yet, prob pop round to a mates later, and borrow a couple of books of him. And no, dead at work, meant it was just really quiet smiley - biggrin got a great day ahead of me today, a couple that drink in the pub are celebrating there engagment, sounds lovely hey, until you relise that he is an alcholic and also what you would class as the village idiot (if you could class Hayes as a village), she is a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic (not a nice term, but only way to describe her) so i am going to have every alcholic in today that you can imagine!!! Sounds great eh!!!!

CONGRATS on your column being published, must have been a great rush!!! smiley - biggrin and yeah, you West Ham fans dont take the wind-ups very well!!!

Well have a good day!!!

Hey....great news about your interview, nice way to enter the weekend!!

How did it go with the odd couple's engagement yesterday?.....the picnic term had me laughing!!

Funnily enough, when i managed to sqeeze in a walk on the heath with the dog yesteday i saw a couple of school buses there from 'Hayes' school...would that of been the same hayes as you i wonder.

I had a very full day. Up early doing assigment work (studying a lecture transcript on newspaper law), then off to college for a couple of hours at 9am, then i finished painting a wall in the garden, strimmed the lawn edges ( big lawn...lol)and weeded a flowerbed...(sound like an old man don't i?), then had a good brisk walk on the heath, then zoomed down to Farnham to see my Aunt for a few hours before spending the evening with my sister , a curry and a couple of glasses of wine. i like having busy days like that.

the weekend could be hectic as there is plenty to do today and a couple of partys tonight, early cricket tomorrow, a barby in the afternoon.....jeez i'm going to be knackered....no chance of escaping either.

Stephen King...hmm...that is horror stuff is it not?, not my cup of tea at all i am afraid, i never watch horror films either....life is scary enough...lol. i am about to try a new author that has been strongly recommended to me, Deaver....Geoffrey i think, thrillers, i will let you know how it is.

Anyway, i hope you have a great weekend, i shall try and call in occasionally, and if i see you are online, have a chat.
Take care,
Noname

How did the engagement go, as bad as i thought! Someone said to me,who on earth has an engagement party in the afternoon!!! My response, a bunch of alcholics!! They where going back in the evening, my boss wasnt impressed at all!!! smiley - biggrin I found it all very hard to take seriously, but then so did a lot of ppl! The ring looked like it had been taken out of a christmas present, ah bless, really hey smiley - biggrin

Cant think of a school round here called Hayes School.

Sounds like you have a busy weekend, me, im off out now, got to go to a gym, and pick up some passes for my sis, myself and the other bridesmaid, for a pamper day. Part of her hen night. Than prob have to see my brother. Tonight, video with my son and pizza. My ex came round last night, to discuss weather we should get back together, its a very long story, but we split up after our son died, there is a lot of forgiving to be done, so we are going to be taking things very slowly.

Have a good day!

Funnily enough i hardly ever had barbys in Africa, unless i was in the bush itself when i would often cook on an open fire. They do like them here though, i think it is an effort to spend as much time outside as possible.

I hope things go well in your personal life, it sounds like there is quite a story involved....i suppose there normally is with these things. Good luck anyway, i really do hope it all works out as you would want it too, and most importantly for the best, for you and your son.

Had a great walk this morning, i must of done at least five miles, it surely has to be the best way to get a day going. I never go to gym, preferring rather to do a few stretches and exercises at home daily.....well, maybe four or five times a week. I guess it must be a nice social thing too...?

HELP_IM_LOST (why are there not enough hours in the day?)

Unfortunaley i had to give the gym up a while ago, but visit the gym when i can with my mate. The crech has now shut on Saturdays and closes at 5 in the evening, so cant go now! I picked up some passes though, so my sister, myself, and the other bridesmaid can spend a pampering day there for her hen night/day. Pampering, mmmmmmmm, an hour in the gym, than and hour workout, but hey, i enjoy that, so does my sis, plus you have the sauna's and a beauty salon, so we can pamper ourselves a bit smiley - biggrin Sorry, didnt explain it earlier!!!

Yes, the british do tend to spend as much time outside as poss, but thats cos we dont have the weather, so enjoy it when we can!!! My boss has gone barbie mad at work, think 2 weeks ago he was having a barbie practically every night!!! Reheated food, lovely!!! smiley - biggrin

Morning Lost,
How you doing today, i hopeyou have had as nice a weekend as i have, it has been a cracker. After a nice day saturday we went to two parties on saturday night that were both good, the first being a bit of a black and white affair at some golf clubhouse (but private) with a live band and nice food and then afterwards to one where two marquees had been put up in the peoples garden, which was very vibey and went on until late into sunday morning.

Up at 9am on sunday though , which was a bit harsh, to watch the nephew play cricket for the morning, by the time we got back, there was just time to shower and change before guests started arriving for what was a very nice barby in the garden and a pretty good drink!!

Feeling a little bit worse for wear this morning, but all worth it.

Today is going to be a bit hectic too, although i am not going to be drinking at all.I have some work i want to get through this morning, then at about 11.30 or so about fourteen 13 year olds are arriving for their end of year party/ bbq, it is the last time they will all be together before they move on to their respective senior schools, i am the barby cook so it should be a laugh. Then at 5pm i have a couple of hours workshop at college. look like the weather is going to be lovely again too.

Sounds like a good weekend. Mine was quiet, but it always is when i have my son!! smiley - biggrin Sat, went to the gym to pick up the passes, then shopping with my sis, brother, and her finace, to sort out suits for the wedding, and i have found my bridesmaid shoes, going to get them tom. Then popped into the pub so my son could have a game of pool, which he is mad on!!! Then home, and made pizza, garlic bread and watched Monsters Inc, which is a great film. Sunday, Luke had a sports day with Beavers (younger cubs) i didnt stay as he had broken the brakes on his bike, so went to the pub and got one of the guys to fix it for me!! Picked him up, home dinner bath and bed for him, and i just relaxed last night. So busy, but relaxing!!! Got to work today, and yeah, looks like a lovely day!! And im going to be stuck in a pub all day smiley - sadface

Does your son not live with you?....or do you and his dad take it in turns to have him on the weekend?....sorry i know that is nosey...just being interested though.

pool!!....i enjoy pool too, i have not realy played it for years but there was a time when i used to enjoy hustling the hustlers in some real dives in downtown Joburg.

Your weekend sounds lovely , far more satisfying in most respects.
Shame about being in the pub all day today though, is it open right the way through till closing time tonight?

HELP_IM_LOST (why are there not enough hours in the day?)

My son lives with me, goes to his fathers every other weekend.

Think my son will turn out to be a hustler, for a 7 yr old boy, he is really good at the game, its quite embarassing really, ive always said that being good at pool is a sign of a wayward childhood!!! For christmas im getting him a pool table though, he is mad on the game!!!

The pub opens 11 - 11, unless he has a lock-in, then it can got onto god knows what time!! Im only doing the 11 - 3 shift today, so the grave-yard shift, get all the alcholics in, Great fun!!!

I think that saying comes from previous generations who used to hang out at snooker halls....dark and dimly lit...a good place to hide out when playing truant....i remember the one in ruislip well....lol, i wonder if it is still there above burtons....is burtons still there even?

I guess you will be on your way to work now already, i hope that it was a nice easy shift, hopefully the sun will stick around so you can enjoy it when you finish.

Having been a bit of a socialising clubber for a long time i had my own place for a while...nightclub/ restaurant/ poolbars....i used to stand behind the bars or maybe the dj at times and think to myself.."jeez, was i like that"...lol...unfortunately the answer was yes...lol.
Never an alky you understand , but always out for the crack, and therefore always with a glass in my hand.

The nightclub business finished it for me, and although i will have a drink again now i actually gave it up totally for about three years. I started with the intention of stopping for a year, as an exercise in self discipline, at the end of the year ( which i found very easy) christmas was approaching and i was looking forward to having a boozy one, and the funny thing is, when it came to it i did not have the desire at all....so it went on for three years!!! not a single drop passed my lips.
The only hard thing i found is that it was so booooooooring, finding things to do is difficult.
Anyway, must dash, garden is ready and am expecting an avalanche of kids just now.
