"But it was not a quote from blicky. And it was not a quote from myself."
I never said it was. Oh no I feel a repeat of the other thread comming on

Oh, sorry wraith, I thought that was a response to my posting and that you had confused me with Member. Really, I see no point in you trying to discuss this with Member because 1) he really has nothing to do with this and 2) he will probably just rip you to shreds.
For the record, I don't think anyone agrees with the many nasty things he has posted about Della. So it would be going off in totally the wrong direction to include him in this discussion.
I really am trying to just get people to calm down here. Doesn't anybody want to calm down?

wraith,
Totally ignore Oetzi, he is behaving like a troll. He's been doing this for the past couple of days, showing up on threads he has nothing to do with and just posting nonsense.
As for blicky, well, he was angry. And I can't blame him. But you see, both blicky and Della tend to post things in anger at times, which sometimes ends up in a fight. Della was angry at blicky when she insulted him. If she had just called him a jerk or something then none of this would have happened. Her mistake was using a term that is really not acceptable. Though I never understand why anybody has to resort to name-calling. Still, it was Della's mistake, and she just won't own up to it. So blicky remains angry.
That's the way I see it, anyhow.

If it counts for anything. Before this thread I have never heard the term "wigger" and in almost three decades was unaware that Della had heard of it either.

azahar Posted Jan 13, 2004
wraith,
I'd never heard the term before either. But I have since learned by checking it out on internet that it is in fact considered to be a racist term. My point earlier was that if Della wasn't sure of the meaning then she should have thought twice before using it. She didn't do this, she made a mistake. So, why didn't she just apologise? I don't know.
Anyhow, blicky is offline now, and I hope he won't be angry with me for trying to step in and talk some sense into everybody. I still believe Della was in the wrong, even if she used a racist term inadvertently she still used it. And I don't think it would have killed her to simply apologise for her mistake.

From what I've since read it seems to have a different meaning here. In that case I would explain but not apologise.
Like when some yanks took offence to the term yank. It meant something different there and I explained but did not apologise. That would be tratorous to local culture.

azahar Posted Jan 14, 2004
wraith,
Yes, I see your point about misunderstanding due to different countries and cultures but in fact what Della posted to blicky was:
<>
Which by any standards has to be taken as insulting.
Well, never mind.

Your post doesn't make sence because you acknowledge variances in countries and cultures and then say it was still insulting. But earlier you said that she could have called him a jerk or something and it wouldn't have mattered.
First you're up in armes about racial slur and that insult alone isn't the problem.
Now it's the insult that is the problem.
Would it not be more accurate to say that *your* problem is Della.
While you ponder this. Remember it is you keeping this going.

No, I'm not keeping it going. Just showed up again because blicky was still upset. But I can see there is no point in talking any further, so bye.

The wraith has come to teach us we were wrong about something and to make vague past tense threats to Hoo ( he would have flattened Hoo apparently, he didnt say if he would have used panel beating equipment, power press or a cartoon steam roller).
Sorry for the glib reply but Ive been hanging around in the nursery too long.
