RIP Choc Cat
Posted Apr 27, 2011
A few hours ago aka Tiny crossed the rainbow bridge.
He was a fairly young cat, just about 5½ years old, but he had a tough start in life as a stray cat who eventually ended up in the local cat shelter from here he was adopted. He was always kind of feeble. The last pneumonia didn't heal and he developed a severe cardio-respiratory distress that worsened over the last few days.
princess spent Easter visiting friends in UK, so I had to keep him alive until she returned. Somehow I managed and today we took him to the vet and he was beyond resuscitation. He died peacefully after the final injection in the arms of his most loved human.
RIP my gorgeous kitty cat. We miss you.

In which fish is served for lunch and Leopardess is unhappy

princess is heading south for the Holidays and thus is in need of a cat sitter. My suggestion of asking DJ - who usually cat sits for me - was unheard of (sibling rivalry...) so today I took the afternoon off and picked up and Her Supreme Catesty on my way home.
A significant amount of Alaskan Pollock was prepared yesterday - and tried by Lynx and Leopardess and found palatable. Her Supreme Catesty is very fond of so this was considered to be a suitable bribe upon arrival.
voiced his disapproval of transport all the way home. Poor taxi driver. I think was quite relieved when the destination was not the Vet's office but the Lair. He jumped out of his transport cage quickly and started to inspect the surroundings. Very soon he found his old favourite spots, tried them properly and started to eat.
Her Supreme Catesty started by loudly telling the other cats who is In Charge and underlined that with the Look. doesn't bother, but Lynx and especially Leopardess disapprove. The Paw has been in use a couple of times already but I think the somewhat smoothed the worst edges.
Lynx is more relaxed now (some three hours later) but Leopardess is not. She doesn't like other cats, Lynx is accepted but not more. She keeps her distance and glares, and I'm not allowed to cuddle her.
Tomorrow it will be worse. Li'lkitty will be dropped off by princess on her way to the airport. Leopardess and Li'lkitty have a ... ... complicated relationship... and will fight until blood appears if not kept strictly supervised. There will be chambres separees at night for safety reasons.
Xmas peace or...

DQ flies west

The bastard child raping granduncle is finally six feet under, and thus there are a gazillion of things to sort out. Mum was suppose to handle all this, but as you might remember she died a year ago after being hit by a car. The last year has been a mess trying to sort things out for the old one who never made it on his own. Well, he was ninety so it was time for him to go anyway.
A neighbour arranged for a quick burial, claiming nobody would attend anyway. Probably she was right, and it saved me from arranging that anyway. We were not notified about his death until after burial, and now there is a need to go there and see what need to be done. There is a house inhabited since the late forties by a hoarding couple. Mum made attempts to clear out, but was not allowed. There are rumours about unpaid taxes and I don't know what. Well, that is to be found out and hopefully sorted out during the upcoming week.
I've spent a lot of time the last week and a half to arrange travel for me, my both 79 year old aunts and a cousin to to go to the other side of the pond. So far my arrangements has worked out smoothly and at this very moment we're over the Pond heading for the volcanic island where there will be a change of flights.
Tomorrow I must also get a 'merrcan mobile phone – or should I say “cell phone” and a dongle for mobile broadband. Had some trouble with the latter last year, hope it will be easier this time.

DQ flies south
Posted Oct 21, 2010
It's cold in the Far North, so I'm heading South for (almost) a week. Travelling across Europe is not an entirely easy task - it includes a lot of waiting at airports.
Presently I'm, at the Great Hub Down South where I have to wait four hours until the flight to the land of Flamenco. Then there will be some more waiting for the last connecting flight to the City of casa az where I expect to arrive around midnight.
Az and Nog have promised to meet me and make sure I end up where I'm supposed to. Arriving in foreign country in the middle of the night can be... well...exciting... My knowledge in the local tongue is minuscule. I expect "hasta la vista, baby" is not the best phrase to start a conversation with.
Just had a fr*king expensive lunch - airports seem to have their own price range - and am waiting for the baggage drop to open. Had to book separate tickets for the trip between home and here, and another from here to the Real South. Because of that I was denied to check my baggage all way through.
Really looking forward to meet some more HooToo denizens IRL

The dragon finally caved in...

and as of yesterday I have a f*c*b**k account
I still agree with Ivan the Terribly Average that facebook is what happens when you fall asleep when reading. My only excuse is that this seems to be a way of keeping in touch with the offspring, especially DJ who is AWOL from time to time.
Already I've met a lot of old friends and aquaintances from HooToo and a couple of other cyber hangouts I visit. Guess I also should confess that I've been lurking around searching for old school mates and such. They will not be approached since I try to keep my cyberlife and real life apart.
Otherwise I've just returned from a week and a half long w*rk related journey to Venice and Padua. Long days, but I managed to get a few glimpses of the cities. Wouldn't mind going back there for vacation. It is impressing to have lectures at the same old building in Padua that has been part of the University since some 500 years.
I wasn't able to light a real candle for Terri Zendevil, so I lit a virtual one in her mermory. I did the same to my Dad, who died 43 years ago today.
