hi there all,it's strange isnt it ,how we recall the vivid things in our memories through smells ,sounds and the touch of something.I love the smell of tar,it reminds me of been a child, and making sure i didnt get it on my clothes, although it seemed to melt in the heat a lot easier then.
what smells are your most and least favourite, anyone gonna tell????

OH smudger how awful for you to know that smell let alone remember it
To help bring on another memory......
I love to smell and look at gingerbread but I do not like the taste.
I would really like to start a candy Gingerbread house.
I think it would be fun to do. Seems like there is no time at the Holidays so maybe I will start right after this season. Is there a technique for fake Gingerbread that would look ok? Maybe clay or Plaster of Paris?
Does anybody know how long they can be kept or the best way to preserve them? We live in a very dry climate so I am wondering about that being a probelm. Any help with information appreciated.
It might be fun to have a mini Holiday house to decorate too! Not just the Christmas version either but all of the Holidays. Dressing it up would be easier than decorating our house.

The smell of milky tea reminds me of my Grandma.. As does freshly baked potoatoe pie with beetroot..
I luv the smell of new babies after a bath..
Worst smell.. It's got to be rust, it makes me heave as it reminds me of the smell of blood... yuk....
.
Does anyone remember the days of best butter.. That was in the days before we worried about our weight and cholesterol..

When I worked in construction the bacon cooking inside the houses while we were working made me nutty for baconI love bacon!
I also love the smell of wood shavings.
All the wood smells great and different from another.

Yea! Abbi, Have you noticed that food in general doesnt taste like it used to??
Bacon for example, its full of preservatives these days
even bread tastes different or is just me??

Medications can do that.
I have lost my taste for chocolate and bacon compared to years past.
I like them but do not crave them any more.
My hubby has a bad habit of not sealing food containers so food picks up other tastes. Sometimes it tastes like the cabinet or just plain stale. *pet peeve*

Thanks Mistygirl - I think that is what some candy houses are made of now that you meantion it! It does look like that dough
Geesh I think I asked around for a recipe last year, for ornament making but never found one. The ornaments made of that are fun and easy to paint.

Chating about making gingerbreadhouses, bought a memory back,of my dear mom making a snowman out of cardboard and cottonwool, which was hollow, she then filled it with small gifts, for us to pick out of it over christmas.

Hi Mistygirl, Yep! its the little memories that come back to us and they do so at special times
I think thats why all the lonely people get so depressed over this time of year, just like Abbi mentioned in that other thread
