Hi Sal

I had a fairly quiet weekend. Chris was at work on Saturday afternoon (which is unusual - he doesn't do many Saturdays). We went to the Supermarket on Saturday morning but when I suggested going shopping for a chair, he replied "I'd rather eat vomit." Charming!
We did go out on Sunday afternoon, but by the time he had got back from playing golf and eaten his lunch, there wasn't much time left. I saw several chairs that I found comfortable, but one of them had such a horrid floral pattern on it, there is no way I would buy it. Some of the chairs we saw cost significantly more than the sofa! There are a couple that I would quiet like to buy, but Chris isn't keen so there may be further discussions about this next weekend. Blokes, eh?smiley - erm

There you are! I lost you among all my other messages (I think I may have subscribed to too many conversations).

We've only got a two seater sofa and Chris likes to lay out on it, which leaves me with nowhere to sit because I find the arm chair way too uncomfortable. If we had a comfy armchair he could hog the sofa to his hearts content. Maybe I will manage to buy one this weekend. I'm getting a bit fed up with the way this has dragged on to be honest.

Hope you have a good weekend and chat next week.

Well, I have bought a chair! smiley - wowsmiley - yikessmiley - tongueout

I saw a couple last weekend and I was determined to buy one of them. The one that I was quite convinced I would buy was £450 - which is a lot of money for one fairly ordinary chair. When I sat on it again on Saturday, I decided that it wasn't nice enough to spend that kind of money on. The other one (£350) was rather a wide design and I was (and still am) a bit worried that it is too big and bulky for our little room. However, after spending half an hour walking up and down the store, sitting first in one chair and then in the other, I decided that the wider one was more comfortable. It was also cheaper and a bit more like what Chris wanted, so a deposit has been paid and we now have to wait a mere 8 weeks smiley - sadface for it to be delivered.

Further good news on Saturday was that, for the very first time and after ten years of playing it, I got 4 numbers on the National Lottery!smiley - somersault I won £84!smiley - biggrinsmiley - biggrinsmiley - biggrin

Oh, I'm fine.smiley - smiley Busy at work, which is curtailing my time on h2g2. I'm not in much of a mood to sit at the PC when I get home after I have sat in front of one all day. Also, I generally have more trouble when I log in from home because I only have a dial-up connection there, whereas at work we have Broadband.

I'm going for my lunch soon. I didn't bring a proper packed lunch today and I've already eaten all my fruit. I think some Marks and Spencers sandwiches may be in order.smiley - drool

Take care. Chat soon

I saw somewhere a thread involving some of the more helpful people on this site, where they were trying to think of a way to get the digibox users back on. I can't find it at the moment and I don't think they had reached any conclusions anyway. Still, it's nice to know some people care.

I had a nice weekend. I had my eyes tested on Saturday and they weren't any worse so I don't need any new glasses smiley - smiley. I also won another £10 on the lotto!smiley - cool

Take care and chat soon.

Hi Sal, nice to see you popping in now and again.

Nothing much to report this week, work's a bit boring. I've got some leave booked for the end of next week, which I am looking forward to. I plan to decorate my bathroom, so I will probably work harder than I would have done if I'd come into the officesmiley - biggrin

Hi Sal, hope you are OK.

As I write this I am on the second of my three days annual leave. I have started work on the bathroom but I'm not as far on as I would like. A man is coming to fit some vinyl flooring tomorrow afternoon, so no pressure then! Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan yesterday and things are already behind schedulesmiley - erm. I spent all morning masking up and taking things down and finally removing the wallpaper. I couldn’t get the loo roll holder or the towel rail off the wall, which slowed progress considerably, as did the amount of filling I had to do as one of the walls was not as good as I had hoped. Another problem was that, as I stripped the wallpaper I pulled off two tiles. What sort of idiot tiles over the top of wallpaper?smiley - groan Previous DIY done by Bodge-it and Scarper, I think. I eventually managed to get three of the four screws out of the towel rail and Chris undid the last one when he got home. However, he could not move the screws in the toilet roll holder, so instead he just ripped it off the wall! Unfortunately, part of the wall came off with it!smiley - doh So, he was duly despatched to the DIY shop to buy some plaster to repair the wall with, while I did the sanding.

The upshot of Chris’s demolition job was that I couldn’t start painting the walls yesterday. I did put on the first coat of gloss but any painting of walls had to wait for two lots of plastering to dry out. I have sanded Chris’s repairs today (he did a pretty professional job, actually) and I have put the first white coat on the walls. It doesn’t look too bad, actually, particularly when you consider how bad most of the walls are. I plan to get stuck into coat number two at about 1pm. Then the plan is to do one last coat of emulsion and the second gloss coat late this evening. I think a late night is in prospect.

No rest for the wicked! Or mesmiley - biggrin

Well,i hope you have a good weekend, and lots of relaxation before work on monday. It's been snowing here again, that's on and off for two days now,but it doesn't seem to be sticking much,so it's leaving a fine dusting all over,,,,nothing that the children can get excited about!!smiley - snowball.I hope wwe don't get anymore over the weekend.Hope to catch you soon.take care, smiley - love salxxxxxx

The painting is all finished - I did three coats of emulsion on Thursday and the second coat of gloss ready for the floor man on Friday. Unfortunately, the hardboard is in such a poor state that it needs to be replaced before the vinyl floor can be laidsmiley - sadface so the nice men are coming back on Tuesday to re-board the floor and lay the vinyl. I will have to do some serious sucking up to my boss on Monday so that I can have Tuesday off.smiley - grovelsmiley - grovelsmiley - grovelsmiley - biggrin

So, we are still walking about on manky old hard board. However, I have re-attached the two tiles that came off (and done SUCH a good job that Chris couldn't tell which ones I had done) and between us we have managed to fit a new toilet seat. It has been taken off and re-adjusted about 15 times now and it is still not quite rightsmiley - cross, I think we've got a defective toilet. I'm hoping Chris will put the new blind up tomorrow and re-attach the loo roll holder and towel rail.

I was going to go out today, but I slept in so late this morning, it just didn't seem worth it. I have done some housework and tidying up today, but I'm too knackered to do anything else.smiley - sleepy. I haven't had time to go shopping so we will be having a take-away curry for tea.smiley - tongueoutsmiley - ok

We had a sprinkling of snow here yesterday and also on Monday, but both times it melted by mid morning. The weather doesn't know what it wants to do today, one minute the sun in shining and the next the sky is as black as your hat. We had a hail storm about an hour ago, but no snow as yet, although the weather forecast keeps saying that more snow is coming.

Take care and chat soon.

hi there liz, hope you're smiley - oklove.i thought i better not post to the other thread, the last posting was moderated, goodness knows why...smiley - weird
I gather you're feeling a bit disillusioed with your bloke just now,and i don't blame you.
I knew you had mentioned in past postings that
he didn't like commitment, but we never really went in to it in depth.I was going to suggest that he was just very indecisive, but it's obviously more than that, and i seem to detect an angry note to your postings.
I'm sorry if i sounoed flippant,i didn't mean tn to.iwill post more tomorrow, not having the best of weeks,Take care,.luv salxxx

It hasn't been a good week. I came back to work on Monday after having most of last week off. Coming back to work after a break always puts me in a bad mood.smiley - cross I was off on Tuesday to deal with the chaps coming to do my bathroom floor. The new vinyl flooring looks lovely, but they managed to take great lumps out of my paintwork when they were putting the plywood down. The hammering involved in re-boarding the floor also shook my new loo seat loose and caused some plaster to fall off the ceiling in the kitchen belowsmiley - sadface. Then, when I was in the process of cleaning up all the plaster dust in the kitchen, I knocked over and smashed two storage jars.smiley - bruised I was almost (but not quite) glad to come back to work on Wednesday.

The only contribution Chris made to any of my recent DIY efforts was to fill some holes in the bathroom wall - holes that he made in the first place. And where was he while chaos reigned chez Liz 'n' Chris on Tuesday? On the smiley - bleeping golf course as usual. Still, he has said he will deal with the ceiling man when he comes in two weeks time. And, he has done most of the washing up this week and even emptied the bin. Believe me, this is progresssmiley - smiley

Oh yes, he is VERY indecisive. I'm sure you remember the saga of my trying to buy a new chair. A chair I paid for I might add, but how much reluctance did we have from him to even go and look for onesmiley - erm. Just recently I have seen a lot of character traits coming out that look very much like his fathers and that worries me. This man is the king of cantankerous old gits and I don't relish the prospect of living with the junior version!

hi liz....ouch!!i know cantankeroUS....AND i know cantankerous gits..believe me,,but the old,,well not just yet.smiley - biggrin.BUT i have to be honest....so does my other half!!!!
He puts up with a lot from me,especially when i'm not too good.I suppose thats what been together for so long does...you even get omfortable with each others bad moods!!!
I,M sorry youve had a bad week love, but i undrstand how you must feel...maybe next week will be better when you're at work most of the time???
Ihope you don't mind me asking, but if chris was so bothered about a comfortable chair, what about all his stuff that are sat there in storage.
He could have saved you a packet!!!!men!!xxx
