My meeting with my new line manager went well (as reported in my journal) and my new move is now delayed until they sort me out with a new computer for my new office.

Contracts of Employment tend to cover terms and conditions rather than the actual work you do and anyway, what good would kicking up a fuss do? I'm still doing more-or-less the same job (and I still have the same job title), it will just be in a different office. Better communication would have been nice though. It turns out that my new line manager was moved from her last post in an equally unceremonious manner, so she is very sympathetic. She was someone's PA one minute and an Admin Officer on the opposite side of the building the nextsmiley - erm.

I've had a fairly quiet weekend (apart from the loud music that I can now here thumping away in a house further down my streetsmiley - cross) and I've felt much happier than I did last weekend. I've got a book to read this weekend (which I didn't have last week) so that has kept me occupied and I do seem to have spent most of this afternoon at my PC doing various things. I might think about some supper soon - it's a darn shame that Fish & Chip shops don't open on Sunday's - I could really fancy a bag of chips!smiley - laugh

hello liz,how ya doing ???It has taken ages for me to get to this thread, for some reason i haven't been able to post here.Still i managed t eventually.I hoe the new job is going well.or haven't you moved to your new office yet???
I don't have a lot to tell you really, just the usual day to day things, and /lots/of gardening ,when i've been able to get out there.Ihave lots of new plants in the rockery, all thriving, and the pumpkins are in ,ready for halloween.
Oh,and we've been adventurous this year, and planted lettuce, beetroot, radish, and some veggies as well.I thought salad stuff was a good idea, seen as were supposed to be having a very warm summer, although today is dull, and the sky quite grey.
Looking forward to some sunshine,i've even brought the sun cream out of hiding(just in case)!
Chat soon.

I moved to my 'new' office a fortnight ago. It's pretty crap so far. I seem to spend an awful lot of time running backwards and forwards to my 'old' office as I still have to do all the same things I did when I was there. My new line manager naffed off on holiday two days after I moved desks and no one else seems to know what I'm supposed to be doing, so I haven't been doing very much.

I had lunch with Chris on Friday. It was nice to see him and have a good old gossip (in addition to the long conversation that we had on the phone on his birthday). He seems a bit happier with his life and has at least got some colour in his cheeks now (from playing a lot of golf) but he is still very thin. His weight loss really shows in his face, which looks rather haggard nowsmiley - sadface.

The weather here was glorious on Friday and Saturday and so I spent a lot of time sitting in my back garden reading a book. I got sunburnt, despite the sun cream I was wearing, but that was my next door neighbours fault - I was trying to get indoors before the sun got to hot and I just couldn't get away from the woman, talk about yak! It wasn't so nice yesterday and today has been very rainy. My only outing has been to the local Co-op to buy a pint of milksmiley - erm. I wanted to go for a walk, but I didn't trust the weather not to rain on my head. Still, at least I got plenty of housework done today.

I think that's about all my news for now.

Oooh, hellooo!

I have just had a weeks annual leave so I have been enjoying the weathersmiley - cool. I hired a car last weekend and went to visit my parents, driving home and returning the car on Monday. I met Chris for lunch on Tuesday, spent Wednesday at home, mostly indoors unfortunately as it was too damn hot to sit in my garden. On Thursday I went shopping and also met some work colleagues for lunch and then on Friday I sent the entire day at the seasidesmiley - biggrin. Yesterday I didn't do much as it was dull and cool, although I did go to a party in the evening. Today I have spent some time reading in the garden. I have done a lot of reading in the garden this week (as well as reading on the beach on Friday) and have devoured two library bookssmiley - ok. I really don't want to go back to work tomorrowsmiley - sadface.

No, I don't particularly like my new office but it wouldn't matter if I did. I need to earn some more money now I am on my own again, so I am looking around for another job. Unfortunately, I don't think I will find anything in time to avoid the September enrolment rush, but never mindsmiley - erm

Hi liz,how are you??I hope you'll excuse me for not posting for so long,i really haven't had a great deal to tell you,so thought i'd save it up.
Have you managed to find another job yet??
The school holidays are upon us once more,so things might be a bit more hectic than they have been, which is a good thingsmiley - smiley
We've been busy in the garden, and my wonderful pumpkins have suffered some sort of mildew,so i'm hoping the ones that are left will survive for the girls for halloweensmiley - sadface
I shall be upset if they on't as this year we've planted them outside,.last year we grew them in the greenhouse.
I've had some lovely flowers though,my daughter grew the plants from seeds,so we've been quite giddy about them!!!
We're going to lincln on friday,i think were going out for a meal for my birthday, unles our plans change.
We intended going to the london meet, but changed our plans,so billy and me went to newcastle,to the metro centre, but i wasn't too impressed with it...but i did get to see the angel of the north, which i haven't seen before.smiley - bigeyes
It's almost bedtime now,so i wont bore you completely, but look forward to hearing from you.Have a good weekend.

Hiya Sal,

I hope you're well. I'm struggling to keep up with hootoo at the moment, but hope to do some catching up at the weekend.

I've never seen the Angel of the North but I bet it looks impressive. I'm a fan of that kind of public art.

It's a shame about your pumpkins. I've got an apple tree in my garden and when I was on holiday in June it was laden with tiny fruit so I thought I might get a good crop of apples this year. However, my tree is now covered in this white fungus stuff and all the apples have rotted and fallen offsmiley - erm. However, my hydranga (spelling???) is in full bloom with stacks of pretty pink flowers.

I still haven't found another job. I've had two interviews, one of which went very well but I think my salary expectations lost me that one (they were looking to pay less than I already earn). I have another interview at lunch time today.

Anyway, I'd better go as I'm supposed to be working.

Hi liz,how did the interview go??I hope it was more to your expectations, well.at least the pay part of it!
Your apple tree sounds as though it suffered the same fate as the pumpkins, the leaves are almost all dead now, after turning a nasty sort of chalky -yellow ,but with a white cast to them.We still have just the one smiley - pumpkin, the rest rotted ,then fell off.The cucumbers seem to have gone the same way,but the smiley - tomato have been lovely, and so have the green peppers.
It was a treat seeing the angel, and its size is very impressive, but far better seen at a distance(not too far though),otherwise the rust looks a bit yuk!!
I've never liked seeing things rusty,it makes me want to get the paint out!!!
better get off,have a good weekend,chat soon.

Well, the interview went alright but it the job turned out to be really quite junior. The woman who interviewed actually said that she thought it was beneath me. The maximum salary she could offer (which she claimed is more than they pay any of their other secretaries) fell well short of what I am looking for. She asked me to think about it over the weekend and let her know on Monday if I am interested. I'm not. I took a sideways step (and a slight drop in pay) when I accepted my present job and I can't aford to do it again.

I think my apple tree has had it, really. I've been here for six years and in all that time there was only one year when I actually had a successful crop of apples. Mother is due to visit next weekend and I will have to call upon her expert gardening opionion about whether or not to chop the tree down.

I've been busy cleaning the house today (in preparation for the parental visit) and I haven't been out at all. The weather is a bit rainy, so I can't even get out and do jobs outside (the weeds at the front of my property have to be seen to be believed - and it's only three weeks since I last pulled them all up!).

Hope you've had a nice weekend.
