Bouncy has sent me here to admit to being pretty or summat like that.
Thankyou for the nice things you have said ladies it is always nice to hear such things. az as you should remeber I think you look bostin'(ask Bouncy he's near enough to do Blackcountry translations) in your photos. Monty your a smasher too, used to have a girlfriend who looks a lot like you (life moves on) not that either of you ought to need my approval to make you feel better about your looks.
All of you should not worry about your waistline till affects a strain your knees or your heart.

Have redone comments
Probably too long to put as a caption, though.
Just put 'Midsummer 2003. Jez at Avebury being a fluffy heathen.'

I don't even know where the Blackcountry is let alone know how to decode the local garble .
I never did do well with Geography; couldn't handle the colouring in.

Jez - check it out. I've put in your captions.
So, is anyone thinking differently about everyone now that we know what we look like?

Well, some people don't look the way I'd expected. From your picture, I'd never guess you were part Native Canadian (is that the right word).

I don't think anyone looks exactly as one thinks they will.

>> I don't think anyone looks exactly as one thinks they will. <<
This phenomenon occurred on a huge continental scale about a half century ago with the advent of television in North America. Many 'radio' stars were able to make the crossover even though there was often resistance from audiences with preconceived notions who could never get used to the real faces behind the voices.
Almost as many never did make the move to TV. 'Amos and Andy', a very popular radio show about two 'colourful' and comedic American negroes, was slow to make the transition because on radio they had been, and continued to be, played by two white actors.
By the time sponsors and producers found the perfect pair of black actors to play the TV roles, social attitudes toward this kind of stereotypical and condescending racial humour had already begun to change.
In fact, it was in part the realisation that for years the public had accepted these radio characters at 'face value', that made people stop and think about such things.
And on a personal level, now that many of you know what I look like I am actually beginning to feel like I don't really have much further to say. I am happy to think many thought I was younger but sad that these same people can now safely dismiss what I'm saying as a silly old man's folly.
So I ask you all to look into those eyes of mine and ask yourself, what is he thinking, would he lie, would he look younger if he shaved...?

I hear voices for people I come across more often on here and your voice hasnt changed.
So I guess seeing your photo hasnt changed my perception of you much.
Looking at the other photos the only one tha surprised me was Saturnines and that was because with her being a Satanist I stupidly presumed she had black hair.
I genuinely believe the way others treat us based on our appearance and the perception we have of ourselves are closely interlinked. When i grew a beard People treated me quite differently. I think something of the way you correspond reeked reverend or sage and this is co-related to your physical look. IMO
You all look decent enough and that only concurs with what I have found from getting to know you lot.
Please dont blow me out of the water by saying that was a photo you ripped out of a magazine

For what it's worth I didn't rip mine out of a magazine. But I'm not sure that anybody knows what I look like yet.

jwf, it's just that I thought you were, sorry, a younger man...but that's just an echo of a long ago conversation! I certainly don't think of the things that you say as the rantings of an old man...and probably you're not that much older than I am...it's just the beard!

Not at all, Krispy, but how about a photo? And one of psychocandy too, if she wants.
Just got two from Ste, so they're now up.
I moved yours over to the next page, anhaga, so Ste's could be together. Though I still don't believe you are anywhere in that photo at all!
Note to all:
Any comments you see made under your photos that you don't like, just let me know and I can delete them. If I ever see anything unpleasant or offensive I will delete it straight away.

Good Morning, azahar
I've been looking for a suitable photo since you started these threads but haven't found the one I wanted (which has me wearing a kaftan sitting on a sand dune overlooking Botany Bay in about 1974). However, I'll send you one of me with stitches(U221324). I think she qualifies for the gallery despite not having posted on h2g2 by virtue of her contribution to the Book Of The Future.

What's with the name change Blicky?
I already knew jwf was an elder statesman, so it won't affect the way I read him. One or two people's photos have surprised me (names omitted to protect the innocent) but none in a way that changes anything in my estimations of them.
Off to look at the new piccys.
