Sorry, I missed the whole hair dilemma, Bassman. What did you decide on?
David's new pics are up, though I am a bit disappointed to see the genie costume "behaving".

I've still got long and not-so-long bits. I just don't want to sacrifice any of the really long hair - it's over 3 feet now. I think I'll wait until the ends start splitting again and make a decision then. What I don't need is the shorter ones splitting - which will force me to have them trimmed!
For those of you reading in metric - that's 3 feet, go find a conversion table LOL

Too lazy to supply one, are you?
I've just had my hair cut in December, meaning it's shoulder length when dry and about 15cm longer when wet

Interesting isn't it. How we in the UK went metric way back when, yet aircraft still fly across Europe and The States in feet!
I suppose I ought to feel at home with metres, I've been aware of them most of my life, but being involved in the aviation industry that still uses feet for altitude and miles (be it Nautical) for measuring distance, I must admit to being rather old fashioned in that respect. Also I do 25 000 miles a year in my car and road signs are all in miles - same as still comes in pint glasses. Oh yes

We use only metric here, and I personally can't see what's the point of sticking with all those awkward non-decimal measures...
I can figure them out, at least approximately - I know a foot is around 30 cm, so 3 feet are almost a metre, and a pound is a little less that 0.5 kg, etc. - but I can't 'see' them in my head, I always have to translate them first. From talking to people used to imperial measures, I understand how it's the opposite for you: when you hear that someone is 1.80m tall, you stop for a moment and your brain goes 'Oh, that's around 6 feet, alright then'; for me of course it goes the other way around.
So I can understand how that's what you have in your head, and you can't just switch it, but goodness, it's all so complicated!
Ask someone how many centimetres are in 17.5 metres, and it's so easy: 17.5 X 100, that's 1750cm. Decimal. Simple. On the other hand, ask someone how many inches are in 17.5 yards, and it's... well, three feet in a yard, and 12 inches in a foot, so 36, times 17.5 - carry the 1 - no, wait, that's... um, well, it's a lot.
Anyway, back to the hair business, I got a haircut on Tuesday. I like keeping it relatively short, because it curls better that way, and feels nicer. Got some highlights too, which I do occasionally - they're very fun.

What really gets me is that my architectural drawing program is by default set to feet and *fractional* inches. They expect you to do technical drawing with measurements like 7/64 of an inch!
I changed the settings to centimetres and am very happy with it

I'm a mixed bag when it comes to metric. I only understand celcius temperatures but still think in feet and inches (metres no problem). I relate to kilos more than pounds (and what the hell is up with stones - who invented that?) and am about 50/50 on miles vs kilometres.
Oooh, a haircut! I was going to treat myself to a pre-chemo cut & dye job but then forgot and washed my hair that morning. Now it'll have to wait awhile - not sure if I'm supposed to dye my hair while on chemo.
Long curls sound like they'd be very high maintenance Lady P. What colour highlights?

Chemo? Oh dear!
You skip a hundred posts or so, and end up missing the important stuff...
Lots of good luck with it!
I always get natural highlights - I have dark brown hair, so anything too yellow looks odd, so my hairdresser stops it when it reaches a sort of copper-ish shade. I like it very much.

I probably ought to get my hair cut before my sister's wedding next week.
I think we're about equally curly, Lady P. I've always wondered what would happen if I cut it really short - have you ever tried it?

I haven't, but my mum has ahd a short haircut for ever and ever, and we have very very similar hair, so it gives me some idea. I don't think it'd look good on me... on her, I'm too used it to imagine her any other way, but on me, probably not good. I think my face is too round for a short haircut; it's better with a sort of 'frame'.

I'm losing the feet and inches, but maintaining the follicular appendages, against the modern trend!

Marvellous. Do you think you could put a little cross behind his name to indicate that he is no longer among the living?

Scratch what I said above, I've only just seen that you added a line to that effect (you can't see it on the small version).
