And as I placed the budget toilet roll onto the corner shop counter, I looked down at my sandals, pyjamas and stylish leather jacket and thought to myself "Andrew, this truly is the greatest moment of your adult life."

Google+
Posted Feb 18, 2013
I dislike Google+. I dislike it because people are being railroaded into using it by Google, despite the fact it offers no benefits that you can't get elsewhere.
So I blogged about it, to much acclaim: http://www.unmemorabletitle.co.uk/the-great-google-plus-swindle/
My networks on Twitter and Facebook loved it. Apparently it struck a chord. "Google+ offers us nothing!" they said, "We don't like being railroaded into using it!"
Well, we were all wrong. It does offer something unique. Google+ tells you when you're being badmouthed by people you don't know! Imagine that!
Here's some highlights:
"That's not constructive criticism it's just a Google hate rant"
"I'm finding it hard to say something polite. No wonder he's shitty."
"Andrew Nattan has small points in the article, but overall it's just what Eileen expressed already, linkbait. From what I have actually learned is just about Andrew. He didn't expose much else, rather about him. I imagine he is a local guru who likes his local clients paying him and never minds global community conversations. And that's nowhere near of a communication I would expect from an expert."
A guru? Moi?
How bloody offensive that is.

Hitchhiker's Guide
Posted Feb 13, 2013
Despite my urging for the past 6 years, Laura's never really engaged with Douglas Adams' work (not helped in part by my refusal to allow the recent Dirk Gently travesty to be played in my home). She gave up on the books, has no interest in the radio series, and was nonplussed by the film ("Martin Freeman's playing Martin Freeman then?").
So I'm left with one final gambit. The slightly shonky 80s TV adaptation. I prepared her for the terrible special effects with some 70s Doctor Who, then dived straight in with episode one.
Initial reactions appear to be promising. The special effects are still terrible - she couldn't quite believe that this came out after The Empire Strikes Back - but she finally understands why I despise Mos Def's horrendous attempt at playing Ford Prefect. All in all, she's enjoying it so far.
We'll see if this early positivity can withstand exposure to Zaphod's plastic head.

2013 1/12

Well, January's done. And I've managed to stick to all of my "not-really-resolutions-but-things-I-should-do."
<>I've not had a fag. Or a craving for a fag. Except for one pang at 1am on Sunday morning after 8 pints of Hobgoblin.
<>I didn't have a beer throughout January (made up for that Feb 1 & 2 ). This was far more difficult than not smoking, given that everyone I know bought me ale for Christmas.
<>I'm actually doing alright with the running (Week 5, Day 2 of the Couch to 5k Programme tonight). I'm also seeing more of Boothstown than just the Greyhound and the Legion, which is new.
<>I've lost 10 lbs, mainly due to not getting pissed up and ordering takeaways.
<>There's actually (not much) money in the wedding savings fund.
February's more of the same. More running, less drinking, no smoking and saving every possible penny to put it in the "Buy L a daft frock for a day in a country hotel" savings account.
Should be fun.

Snow
Posted Jan 25, 2013
Just spent half an hour having a snowball fight in the street with my mates. Then when one ran inside because he was too cold, we made a snow penis in his front yard and threw snowballs at his windows.
I am twenty seven years old.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
