Still No Grandchild

Well,

After all the shenanigans, the consultants decided the baby was perfectly OK where it was, and that the induction was neither urgent , nor necessary. So Murrough cooked a full-scale Christmas dinner for Natalie ( and baby ) and his "in-laws," in the best Chaiwallah tradition The first time he's ever done it, and by all accounts, to perfection. Back here, Chaiwallah cooked as usual ( turkey in the big electric kiln, roast spuds in the ordinary domestic oven!!!.) Still recovering. But see new entry for the perfect Christmas cure...chai, but without the chai...a miracle.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. The baby's head is fully engaged, so the arrival is fairly imminent.

Grandparenting Imminent

Happy Christmas to all of you, and to anyone who has dipped a toe into the Waters of Lake Chaiwallah.

This is to let you know that my youngest son, Murrough, and his girlfriend, Natalie, are due to have a baby girl today, Christmas Eve, or tomorrow. Because of slight complications, she is being induced, so all your prayers and good wishes are sought for Natalie to be and her baby.

Cheers,

Chaiwallah.

String Theory - a poem

I make a net for catching truth
Carefully knotting the tight words.
It's surely big enough, you'd think
Not to elude my woven cords.

Of course, it wriggles through the holes,
Escapes again as my net fails.
But who'd resist its opal flight?
And look, these sparkles are its scales.

Fall Haiku

The last leaf flutters -
A last breath, golden before
Sleep bares its branches.

Poem "Who am 'I' "

What you see as solid is
desire made concrete,
and when you touch me
it's my dreams you feel.
This voice you hear is
history and hope, the smoke
of fragrant memories you smell,
this taste, my past.

That which is, I am
eternally. No tracks from where
no path leads here, but
simply being, present.
