Well,
After all the shenanigans, the consultants decided the baby was perfectly OK where it was, and that the induction was neither urgent , nor necessary. So Murrough cooked a full-scale Christmas dinner for Natalie ( and baby ) and his "in-laws," in the best Chaiwallah tradition The first time he's ever done it, and by all accounts, to perfection. Back here, Chaiwallah cooked as usual ( turkey in the big electric kiln, roast spuds in the ordinary domestic oven!!!.) Still recovering. But see new entry for the perfect Christmas cure...chai, but without the chai...a miracle.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts. The baby's head is fully engaged, so the arrival is fairly imminent.

Hi Az,
Thanks for your kind thoughts,
This is my first day back on h2g2 for a long time. Good to talk to you. Hope you enjoyed Christmas, ( if not, or if you enjoyed it a bit too much,) check out my Christmas Recovery Chai.
Just been on the phone to my son in London. There was a slight flutter last night,( Friday ) and Natalie thought she might have been starting labour, but then it all settled down again. So now they are just taking it easy, resting lots, and wondering if she will last until the official due date, January 6th. Probably not. But the baby is fine, as far as technology and Nattalie's instincts can tell.
I'll keep you posted.
Going over to London around Jan 9th.
Cheers,
Chai

my love and best wishes go out to Natalie and to all of you! Hey, the baby might end up being born on my birthday - January 7th! At any rate - a capricorn! How wonderful.

I received a friendly warning that I was in danger of becoming a "baby-bore." So I will remain as mute as I can manage until the arrival. But thanks for your kind thoughts.
( Hhh Hmm......Meanwhile, the imminent Leah Rose is estimated at 5lbs 6oz, more than her mother was at birth. )

Dear sweet Az,
Apart from the weight and the fact that both mother and baby seem to be fine, there's nothing to report. Official due date Jan 6th, but this is a first baby, so there's no telling when.
Cheers

Can't speak for all the others but if you cannot send daily reports then at least occasional up-to-the-moment reports will be very welcome.
This is so exciting!

Just wondering . . . how do they weigh a baby still inside the mother? That looks like one that would stump Archimedes

Presumably they know the specific gravity of a baby, so if they can measure it accurately with ultrasound, or whatever, they could work out the weight.
I must admit, that I find knowing all this stuff ahead of schedule rather odd.
I found it bizzare that within minutes of arriving in the fresh air, my sisters baby was tagged and docketed and numbered and recorded, with barely time for the miracle that had taken place to be acknowledged or thought about.
I wrote a poem at the time, which my sister still has somewhere. I nag her occasionally about letting me have a copy.

*waves to Tefkat*
I'm not bored! I want to know the details, but I find it wierd to know so many details before the baby is born.
It *is* exciting though.

Hi Ben
It wasnae you. It was an answer to post 8:
"I received a friendly warning that I was in danger of becoming a "baby-bore." So I will remain as mute as I can manage until the arrival."

Just been talking to the expectant parents, who have been suffering at the hands of the scare-mongering consultant ( I thought they'd managed to get rid of him ) who wanted to induce the baby over Christmas. He seems to be one of those "Don't say I didn't warn you" types, whose ego seems to be threatened by the fact that the baby is obviously doing fine as nature intended.
So we're still waiting
