I've only been able to see TOS as re-runs (wasn't born till 1983). The SFX are so unbelievably naff, but for some randomly unexplored reason, you find you can still believe it.

They're not as naff as they were in the original Pilot episode with Cap'n Pike, though... I have to admit, it was mid-1980s before I first saw that, and mid 1990s before I saw it in colour. (Sorry, "Color" )
The aliens with the pulsing, bulgy heads were good, though.

Think some of it probably looked a lot better at the time. Like automatic doors hadn't been invented and things like the hyposprays and other medical staff. But some of it was really bad.

"Enterprise" is excellent at the moment, with one old series tie-in (How the Kirk-era Klingons came about) and another on the way (What the Tholians did with the "Defiant" when they dragged it through their web...) it's a real shame it's coming to a close.

NPY Posted Feb 21, 2005
I like Enterprise, though unfortunately haven't seen it in ages as they won't show it on the channels that we have. Don't have Sky so don't get to see it.
I've heard that some people don't like it coz it's just not the same. But it is good coz it gives you the before stuff on how things happened before Starfleet was really started ansd all the technology etc.

Download? You're bad!
Call me weird, but I've always been a bit scared of downloading stuff incase uit fries my computer. My last computer went dogey, and I don't know why, and I don't want to risk it again.

It's not too bad if you're careful.
I tend to just FTP AVIs, so there's nothing that can go badly wrong. And it's not like I'm depriving Channel 4 of advertising revenue - I watch them again six months later...

NPY Posted Feb 21, 2005
Yeah. I know that there's a right and safe way to download. I'm just a bit of a scardee-cat, I think.
Channel 4 are bugging me, coz they seem to have given up showing Enterprise. Either that or they're showing it at some random time and not telling anyone.

The series they were showing came to an end, and they're not allowed to start showing the next one till Sky finish showing it.
Hence the downloading...
...plus I get it in High-definition, which isn't broadcast over here.

Think sometimes the studio just used any reason to cancel something it can't really be bothered with. They seem to keep making rubbish like "reality" TV shows, antiques and home improvement Carol Smiley stuff. Take it away please!
Greetings fellow Trekkie!

"Reality" TV is incredibly cheap, though; you can make a 12-part series for the cost of a single episode of Trek. As long as the public keep watching it, they'll churn it out to cash in.
Eventually, though, the fad will pass and people will be looking for proper scripted drama again. We just have to wait...
On that note I'll leave you for a while - I've got to head out and supervise the installation of a web connection at my local drop-in shelter.
