Well I hope that everyone gets bored with reality TV soon. I got fed up with it about 5 minutes after it first started. The idea that we get a group of people, put them in a house, in the jungle, on a desert island, with singing, with dancing, with celebrities, and then do it all over again a few times is just madness.

Well have fun doing your supervising web connection thing.

I'm back; it didn't happen. smiley - bluesmiley - yawn

My friend who works at the shelter bugged me to come along, dragged me up there this morning, and the Broadband connection apparently doesn't arrive till Thursday. Plus, they had no idea why I was there... I had no idea why I was there either. It was a painful struggle walking up that bloody hill, and if Graham had spent 1/10th of the time he spent hassling me to come along phoning them instead he would have known I wasn't needed. smiley - grrsmiley - steamsmiley - cross

Could've been worse. You could've had to wait all day, or stand around until it came.

I know the feeling though. I hate it when you're standing there with nothing to do. It's even worse when the people who are doing stuff telll you how great it is that you're here and how they really need you to be here and they it's making it all that bit easier for them. How to feel like a right TWIT!!!

But you're not a twit, I'm sure. I'm sure your friend wouldn't have asked you to do it if you weren't capable. Maybre he thought you could do some stuff before the broadband got there.

I'm not a twit, but I'm having serious doubts about him... smiley - cross

It's not the first time his lack of preparation has impinged negatively on my life. Not even the first time this week... smiley - headhurts

Anyhoo... Change of subject time... smiley - erm

"Trials and Tribble-ations" - any thoughts? smiley - silly

I liked that episode. Thought it was actually really well done. You know the bits where the DS9 crew are superimposed into the original episode. Ok, so the storyline maybe wasn't award winning, but even the idea was quite clever.

It's got one of my favourite Scotty lines...

That's a good line. And the Klingon was really mean back. Slagging off the Enterprise to the wrong person.

Did you see the Gorn that Captain (?) Archer killed in the mirror universe? Full CGI, very cool. smiley - cool

If I had the budget and the time, I'd revisit all pre-1990 sci-fi with a good CGI workstation and... fix the knees of all the guys in suits! It's something that bugs me, and Kirk's Gorn was a particularly bad example.

The worst example, because the rest of the movie was flawless, was Gort (Hmm, do I see a theme here? smiley - erm) from "The Day the Earth Stood Still". The rubber suit just bent all the wrong ways as he walked. The movie's a classic, and I'd never dream of colourising it or "updating" the saucer effects, but I'd love to do some corrective pixel-surgery on Gort's knees. smiley - artistsmiley - evilgrin

Yeah. Those rubber suits look terrible now. Don't know how they looked at the time, but now....smiley - groan.

It's scary to think that Kirk's Enterprise is supposed to be far more advanced than Archer's. But it's Archer's that looks so much better coz our technology's advanced so much since Kirk.
