I remember seeing a couple of the news items, and I remember my mate's dad being upset about it- he's the person who got me into Queen in the first place. I remember a bit more about the tribute concert, though I was too young to be allowed to stay up for it, and I wasn't really into Queen by then anyway.
The Beatles were excellent. Ground- breakers, trend- setters etc... Almost unbeatable. Oasis are just overly self- confident shite and deserve to be burned on sticks.
It would be easier to just learn to read tabs... It's much easier than proper music because you don't have complications like timing an' stuff. It just tells you where to put your fingers.
Escapades...?
I've only really heard the obvious Spandau tracks. As for Soft Cell- I've only heard one album- look up Non Stop Erotic Cabaret. It's pretty good. And there are some just plain funny songs. Like 'Sex Dwarf'. Frankie Goes To Hollywood are quite good too.

I'm quite proud of remembering it, considering I was only 5 at the time. I remember asking who he was. I don't think anyone gave a satisfactory explaination. My stepma has the tribute concert on video somewhere.
Can't say I've ever gotten into the Beatles, although my intuition tells me I'd benefit from having a listen to some of George Harrison's stuff.
I should probably get to grips with tabs. Really aught to start trying to teach myself again. Timing's half the fun!
You don't know? You don't know that I am in fact available on DVD, if only for 30 seconds...? I suggest you go through my journal sonny boy..
That's the album I've heard of.. Yeah, Frankie are good. I really want a "relax" t-shirt for no apparent reason. Or possibly a "go go" one, but that's not quite the same..

Wow... I was double your age at the time... scary thought. I too have the concert on video. My friend's dad has it recorded live off the TV- with all the live links and things. The DVD version only has half the concert, so I haven't bought it yet.
John Lennon's even more so, lol. McCartney's singing away with "Got to admit it's getting better, a little better all the time", and Lennon chimes in with "It can't get no worse". My type of guy...
Well if you want some help, tips and advice, then you know who to call... not that you'll need it.
I don't believe you've told me... please save me the trouble of trawling through your journal...
I want a 'Frankie Says Relax' T-Shirt. Even if it is all about gay sex.

I was thinking that when I typed that... Time flies, huh? I haven't watched it, mainly becaus of the notable absense of a tape player anywhere in my family
Probably my kind too
I probably will... I'll be irretrievable, though
I just did
You learn something new every day..

Find one! Surely someone must have a video player *somewhere*?
I doubt it
Indeed you did, indeed.
Not about my sexuality though, you understand.

Errrm.... no, actually. Which is quite annoying.
Actually, I was looking through my guitaring notes earlier on... I must have written down in about a million different ways where all the note are and which string is which.. And I still don't remember! ~yikes~ So don't say I'm not irretrievable just yet..
Only time will tell

I've got one, but I haven't attempted to use it since I started uni, so I don't know if it even works...
That's the beauty of tab. You don't need to know which notes are where, cos it's all numbers! As for which string is which... starting at the deepest sounding string: Every Alsation Dog's Got Big Ears. Methinks you're trying to make it more complicated than it actually is...
You may never find out...

When I were a lass me'd never heard of DVDs..
My trouble with tabs are that I read them backwards. And that's my trouble with remembering the string order. I remember it be "heebeejeebies" don't ask why, it workd in my mind I'm rather hopeless at remembering scales, though. I really need to get back into practising.
That implies there's something /to/ find out

You poor, deprived thing you.
Backwards....? What do you mean? And although you said not to, I have to ask. It's just too inviting. So teeeeeell meeeeee. I don't know any scales any way :-s
There's always something to find out.

Indeedy
I I mean kind of upside down... So I play the top string instead of the bottom string when I try to read tabs. I get myself all confizzled.
The "heebeejeebies" comes from if you say EADBGE really really quickly a few times it sort of sounds like hebejebes... sort of. In my little mind anyway.
I guess so

Ah. Well, think about it this way... when you look at a tab on paper, or on a computer screen, you're seeing a representation of your fret board that you would see when holding your guitar and leaning over forwards to look at the neck. Or, if you sit with your guitar in the usual position, and you pick it up and twist it along it's axis so you can see the board.
Aaaaahhhh..... I can see that....

...Which is where my stupid spacial awareness completely throws me out. That does kind of make sense, though.. I think I'll go for the more hollistic approach of trying to learn everything at once to see whihc on is easier Wish I'd have brought my guitar to my Dad's, "I'm all aloooone" and it would give me something to do
