I'm not complaining
Lol, nice to know I remind you of... a film about transvestites from outer space.
Yes, it is a Queen number, obviously. The original is from A Night at the Opera, and the version I was attempting was based on the live version on Live Killers.
It's a safer bet than puttin the money on me...

me neither
Well, it was a natural jump... At least I wasn't associating you with warewolves
Next time I'm round my Dad's I'll have to temporarily steal that album, then..
One day this will be resolved. And whoever bets on me will lose money.

TeaKay Posted Nov 17, 2004
Glad to hear it
I'm not sure which I prefer... I was gonna do you a recording of Sweet Transvestite when I was recording that stuff for you earlier, but I couldn't remember how to play it. And anyway, I thoought I'd leave it 'til we meet and go the whole hog...
It's Queen's most popular album, by all accounts. Got some good tracks on it (but then they all have...)
Well I'm going to the bookies tomorrow.

"Sweet Transvestite" is the one that invariably gets stuck inside my mind.. not always a good thing Very funny, though. Don't got he whole hog without telling me, if you're doing drag I'll do drag too
I only have the Platinum Collection, but I think my StepMum owns a considerable number of Queen albums..I aught to educate myself further
*shhhhh......*
TeaKay Posted Nov 18, 2004
It's a good track! You mean you'll dress up as a man? You rebel, you.
You ought indeed. If only we were closer I could educate you myself. Alas...

Existential Elevator Posted Nov 19, 2004
It's only fair. If you're being the woman, I should be the man...role reversal or sommat? Not that I do drag often of course... WEll, only on REALLY bad days..
Alas

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I bet you can barely remember what a miniskirt and suspenders looks like.
I can still give you a push in the right direction from here though. Try looking up Queen II (their second (surprisingly) album). That's my favourite and it's very weird and fairytale land-y.

Existential Elevator Posted Nov 23, 2004
Well that's hardly fair... I only own 2 miniskirts [if you don't include the tutu] and I've never worn suspenders in my life...!
Cool...Will definitely be invading my Dad's CD collection next time. I knw he has that one. Althouh at the moment I think he's trying to get me to listen to Genesis. And my uncle is trying to get me into John Frusco
*shhhhh......*
TeaKay Posted Nov 23, 2004
Hey, I was being ironic.
Never been a big fan of genesis (the odd track's good), and I don't know who John Frusco is... but get the Queen out!

I don't know who John Frusco is either.
Will definitely have a crack at the Queen
Talking about music..

Give it a crack, I don't know it'll be your thing, but I saw the video, fell in love with it, listened properly to the song, fell more in love with it, and brought the album at the weekend and have listened to it innumberable times since. If you don't like the sound, watch out for the words. It's qutie touching, really.

Lol
You must, you must!
I would... but the computer speakers don't work, so I can't hear any sounds on this machine.

Existential Elevator Posted Nov 23, 2004
I will, I will!
that's a shame... Although, again, I'm not terribly sure you'd like it. It's a 50/50 split, y'know. But if you get the chance, have a listen. They play the video on The Amp. It's filmed in Brighton.. Which of course bore no relation to how much I liked it..

You'd better, you'd better! It will make you a better person.
What's it called, and who's it by?

The some from the album I BOUGHT? It's called "Park Lane Speakers" and it's by "Ella Guru"

TeaKay Posted Nov 23, 2004
Well, it'll get you in with Mr Mercury, and I've heard rumour that he does the odd shift at the Pearly Gates when Pete nips to the bathroom.
Never heard of it/them/her. But I shall keep an eye open.

He's listenting to a death-day tribute at the moment, I have no doubt..
Them. Like I said, I'm not 100% convinced they'll be your thing
What other things are your thing, anyway? Well, you know what I mean...
*shhhhh......*
TeaKay Posted Nov 24, 2004
Probably
Worth a try...
Apart from you, you mean?
I like T Rex, Jimi, Mott, The Darkness, general 'classic rock' stuff. AC/DC, 80's cheese/ new romantics etc... lots... just not much moder stuff cos it's all crap. Especially Oasis. I hate oasis.

Modern pop is particularly terrible. I'm not terribly fond of Oasis, but have an inexplicable liking for Blur and Blur related bands. It's completely oblivious. I brought the Graham Coxon albulm earlier on in the year and realised afterwards that he was the geeky guy from Blur..
I haven't heard much AC/DC, but I think I have guitar tabs for some of their stuff kicking about somewhere..
Anything more specific on the 80s cheese/new romantic front? I'll admit to Adam Ant, Visage and Culture Club
*shhhhh......*
TeaKay Posted Nov 24, 2004
I quite like Blur. Some of their stuff at least- it's mostly fun. But oasis are just trying, and failing, to be the beatles.
Look up the Back in Black album, specifically Shook Me All Night Long, and Back In Black itself. And "Let Me Put My Love Into You" just for the title.
Adam Ant, Culture club, of course. Spandau Ballet, Soft Cell etc.

Amazing how quickly the time passes. I still remember hearing about it on the radio.
Blur are quite fun, it's always nice when a band doesn't take its self too seriously. Listening to Oasis, you really wonder if they were ever that into the Beatles. I mean, the Beatles were good[ish] and had a fair bit of variety in their music. I'm not seeing ANY variety in Oasis. Or goodness for that matter, beyond a song or two on it's own.
I'm fairly sure it's "Back in Black" I have the tabs to. Which isn't very helpful seeing how I can't read tabs. Well, not without translating them into piano and then translating that into guitar.
I'm sure you know about my escapades with Boy George
Can't say I've heard much Spandau Ballet or Soft Cell, really. Just the obvious tracks. Most of the stuff of that genre/era I own is in complitation. Mainly because I find most of those kind of bands a bit repetative, particularly punk bands. You'd probably like Donnie Darko for it's soundtrack, it'll all from 1985 as I recall...
Key: Complain about this post
