Stiff Little Fingers was another band I liked a lot, too. When I worked at the radio station, I started off every show with "You Can't Say Cr*p On the Radio". "Suspect Device" was awesome too (Naked Raygun's cover is equally brilliant). I guess I'm lucky to have never had cause to deal with them in person.
"Sailin' On" would definitely get me up and moving first thing in the morning! What an awesome tune!

The first thing I'm going to play when my radio show goes FM next week will be "Stereo" by Pavement. No, not punk I know - but very suitable. I did intend to play Vietnow and Gorilla Radio by RATM to open the following shows, but The Management don't take too kindly to swearing...

Stereo is a brilliant song!
Do you take suggestions for the playlist? I'm a sucker for a good single

*sings*
I wonder about the voice of Geddy Lee
How did it get so high?
I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy...
- I know him, and he does -
And you're my fact-checking cuz...
Hello everybody... it's snowing heavily in this supposedly temperate Norther-Italian town...

My band supported The UK Subs in '95. We were really looking forward to it until we met them at the soundcheck - what a bunch of tosspots ( apart from Charlie Harper ), it kinda left a sour taste in our mouths .... almost a bad tasting as the beer served!

What was (is?) you band called?
I see what you mean about meeting your idols, I met the singer from the Manics once, and while he was a decent bloke, I couldn't get over the fact that he was staring at my friend's breasts all the time I was talking to him... maybe that was because I'm really tall and he's really, really small.
I'm friends with one of my favourite bands, so I can't complain The last time I went to see them, the singer was so happy to see me dancing drunkenly under the stage that he gave me their T-shirt as a gift... how sweet! I'll wear it to the gym tonight.

My band were called Ruptured Dog. (pretty catchy, huh?)
We were kind of on the verge of biggish record deals in '93 - '94... tiny record labels had paid for 2 Eps and a cassette album - headlines in a lot of the midsized London venues - supported Cornershop, UK Subs, Chelsea, Back to the planet, Midway still, 3 Colours Red... live broadcasts on GLR (a London radio station), small interviews and mentions in NME and Melody Maker ........... and then Kurt Cobain killed himself.
Overnight, we were branded Nirvana ripp-off merchants (despite playing since '89) and dropped like hot cakes ......... press, record companys, gigs all dried up.
It left us feeling a bit annoyed!!

Aaw, that's a real shame superdog. Are you in any bands at the moment?
My new band at Uni, 'Morbo Hates Humans', will be playing our first big gig in Feb. We'll be opening for Joe Ninety, Leif Ericsson and Jets Vs. Sharks at The Centre in Poole on the 8th. Scary! We need to get some practice done before then.
I hate opening... especially as I can be quite cruel to the warm-up acts when I'm at gigs! They always just seem to be in the way..

You can be lucky with warm-up acts sometimes. I remember a couple of occasions when the warm-up act was actually better than the headliners... then there was the time Drugstore supported Radiohead (and were brilliant!) or the time I got both the Manics and Suede for the price of one...
I always listen to the warm-up acts and even dance to them if I like the music, you know, show support... I was in a band for two and a half years when in college, and I hated it when the audience didn't respond.
superdogmonkey, how annoying it must've been to be dropped just cos Kurt Cobain had decided to ride the bullet out of life. He killed himself, the grunge scene, the credibility of a thousand band and of Courtney Love in a single shot. Mind you, he went, but it was nice to see Dave Grohl grow from being the shy drummer to being the ironic frontman. Who'd have thought he had that much charisma in him?

Big Mad - starting to rehearse a new line up next month
Greta - Dave Grohl seems to be doing ok for himself despite always being measured against his previous band.
I saw Tad, supported by Mudhoney and an little known band called Nirvana! Quite good for an opening band

I've joined a punk-emocore-indie message board... they go on an on and on about underground bands no one's heard about except the member of the band themselves and their dogs, but I'm having fun. They are a bit picky sometimes - when I said that my favourite song for having sex would be "Bang" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, somebody pointed out the the lyrics would clash with the proceedings... does anyone listen to the lyrics when they're having sex?
The mind boggles.
This is my "punk year" deed of the month...
