Me want to join too! My credentials: my friends and I went as The Ramones at last year's Carnival (I'm Italian, we have Carnival around February). I was Joey, of course, being the skinniest, and the only one with long hair!
I my everyday life I'm more of a post-punker, but I have developed a fondness for emo-core recently, and I'm mates with one of the best-known punk bands in Italy, so... I think my resume more than speaks for itself

I still have their first album (vynil), the one with the wonderful "hook of Holland". Saw them live in my hometown in the mid or late 80's, they were very good, very arty, very theatrical... Not very punk though.

*still sighing* *even more sighing because of vinyl - real records...*

Still have plenty (+ a turntable!). Mostly Beatles, various 60's, late 70's ska and... PUNK ROCK!!!
Can't even say that CDs despite being charmless are convenient as my player jumps like hell! Well... I use them but I rarely buy records anyway.

I have to admit I prefer CDs to vinyl, although I still think tapes are the punkest format (see "C30, C60, C90" by Bow Wow Wow for reference). Vinyl is cool but it's very rock'n'roll and hard to lug around...

Nothing can beat the crackle of vinyl or the hiss of tapes, in my opinion. I much prefer it when people give me mixed tapes rather than those horrible CD-Rs
Minidiscs are pretty cool, as you can record onto them and they're nice and small. As they're encased in plastic, they're pretty hard to break too.
Sorry Greta_9, my connection's being really slow at the moment. I'll add your name to the members list in a minute, when it starts working properly

And minidiscs are the bee's boll***s when it comes to casual rehearsal recordings. It's not studio quality but at least you can get a much better idea of what your stuff sounds like than with good ol' tape recorders.
Vynils are the dog's knees for sleeves.

I am in the process of transfering all my tapes and albums onto CD, so I still have all the hiss and crackle!!

Which will enable your vynils to survive and be passed on from generation to generation till at least the 3rd millenium.
You're working for posterity!
I thank you in the name of my great grand chilren's great grand children.
How's things?

I worked at a small radio station in the late 80s and early 90s, and when they changed formats, I was lucky enough to be able to take my pick from their record stash. Most of my collection exists on vinyl or cassette (do I ever feel old now!), but the CDS are catching up.
While CDS are great for the convenience, there are some tunes I just can't get used to hearing without the crackle and hiss. Of course, it also took me a long time to get used to hearing some stuff in stereo. Like Superdogmonkey, I've also been transferring music from vinyl and cassette onto my computer and burning CDs so I can have the best of both worlds.

Superdog,
Same here! And it's really hard because I work from home and manage my own time but still have deadlines. I managed 20 mins today!
Psychocandy,
I used to work in a small radio as well (running a punk rock programm) but that was in the EARLY 80's! Does that make you feel a bit younger? I used to bring along my own records so I never got anything in the end. Does that make you feel a bit happier?

Hey, Chan-Mick, still feeling old? Don't forget we are the same age...
Does anybody remember those wonderful 4-track-tape-recorders? They were great for releasing your own demo-tapes... and I still own one

As far as I can see, apart from Rocket Man we're all in our thirties, aren't we?
I'm going back to work tomorrow and I'm dreading it with all my body and soul. I hate my job, I hate my job, I hate my JOB!!!
Sorry guys, I'm thirty years old but have angst to spare... I want this to be a punk year but the first few days have been more in the vein of Radiohead's Kid A... or, as the Manics once put it, "culture, alienation, boredom and despair"...
Survival's natural as sorrow.
BTW, Rocket Man, I seem to remember we co-wrote one guide entry, but I can't remember whether it was "Dealing with being dumped" (hey, this is me! The angst queen!) or "Adrian Mole, fictional diarist"... either way, it's not on your list. Or maybe you only listed the ones you wrote yourself?
(Going off topic, sorry...)
Anyway... at the moment, I'm listening to "Cannabis" by Ska-P, am I going to get moderated for this?

Still in your twenties? Never thought I'd say this but I envy you... it's so un-punk to be thirty!
