I'm just really uncool
Hannah, my best friend, describes me as "the weirdest kid I know". Punk rock!

It's cool to be uncool. Take it from somebody who's been uncool all her life and now is so uncool she's gone all the way around and is actually cool...

It's like that Blind Melon video where the pudgy bee girl finds a field full of other bee people and dances with them...

Re the 'punk' quiz, I also was a card-carrying punk. Most people who know me also think I'm a bit odd, but I generally take that as a compliment, and seek out other 'odd' sorts for my circle of friends. Being a freak is lots of fun, especially when you get to the point where people can't judge by your appearance or style of dress anymore, and have to actually get to know you as a person to see just how big a freak and how warped you really are.
I'm off to check out the Post just now...

It's there because I *finally* got round to asking the Post Team if they'd give us a link
Also, my entry on 'Acid Eaters' is on the Front Page today. I'm quite pleased as it's one of my better entries, but am pissed off at the way the Editors removed the sentence "After all, the Ramones' drug of choice was solvent-rich glue, not acid". I thought that was quite a good metaphor to show that the music of 'Acid Eaters' perhaps isn't the best representation of the Ramones's work for a newcomer. But alas, it got purged. I have no idea why
On a lighter note, superdogmonkey, the mixed tape that I posted should arrive soon.

Oh, and almost forgot, congrats Rocket Man When I saw the entry on the page, I immediately thought of you!
I'm going to a Ramones tribute night tonight, gabba gabba hey!
Oh, and forgot to tell. I'm leaving the emo message board. Too many bullies, not enough intelligent conversation.
I prefer it here

Thanks for the nice words about Acid Eaters guys!
Just another reason why I am lame: instead of going out with my friends to a party, to get wasted, I've stayed in to do my history homework, on 'parliament and the great reform act of 1832'. I bet they'll think I'm really weird when I tell them my reason for not going out
Oh, and do any of you lot like the Dead Kennedys? I'm a reasonably big fan of the 1980s stuff, but now think they kind of suck for firing and then suing Jello Biafra. Me and my friends have decided *not* to go and see them when they play Bristol at the end of April.

Rocket Man, I like the DK's stuff from the '80s as well. Haven't bothered with them after Jello, either, although I've got heaps of his spoken word stuff! I REALLY enjoyed your Acid Eaters entry- was just too shy to start a conversation!
Heya Skugga, something else we have in common! I'm also a punk ACE, although perhaps one of the laziest ACEs ever... *shamed look*... it's been crazy around here since I went back to school. Seems I bit off a bit more than I was prepared to chew.

I don't own any of Jello's spoken word stuff, the CDs are too expensive! My friends once met him in the record shop that we frequent, which is odd considering that we live in England
So you're 30 and go to school? I guess that makes you a teacher

I think I have some of Jello's spoken word stuff around... I'll see what I've got and if it's anything you like, I should be able to get you a copy.
I'm 30 and do go to school, but I'm not a teacher, at least not yet! I actually wasn't able to finish school the first time around (long, sad story), and finally just sucked it up and decided to do it already! Nothing makes you feel quite as old as having your classmates call you ma'am or ask you to buy them beer. *sigh* But better late than never, right?!
BTW... I received my copy of 'Do the Pop' this afternoon, and all I can say is it ing ROCKS!! Thanks soooo much for the rec, Superdogmonkey! I'd nearly forgotten how much I loved the Hoodoo Gurus, Radio Birdman, and the Hitmen, just to name a few. What a brilliant compliation! Everyone here *needs* to get it.

I managed to find one of Jello's CDs yesterday, but at £15 it was well beyond my price range. I'd love to do a swap of 1 spoken word CD for something of mine. Is there anything from the UK that you'd like me to send you?
Oh, and superdogmonkey's mixed cd came yesterday, and it's great! Thanks a lot superdog
I'm really impressed with the niceness of this society's members, it's probably my favourite area of h2g2. Well done everyone

I agree! And thankyou for setting it up, Rocket Man!
I also like the Dead Kennedys. On a related note, I've just been featured in 'Nerve Magazine', Nerve Media's 'glossy' that most students at Bournemouth Uni read. They did a little feature on Nerve DJ's - a page of our photos with each of us answering the question "What is the song that most reflects your love life at the moment?". My reply was "Too Drunk to F**k - The Dead Kennedys". Unfortunately the irony of that statement will be lost on 99% of the readers, but I'm rather proud of it!
My friends went to see one of Jello's spoken word performances, apparently he can rant about a single topic for hours. I would have loved to see the DK's live - the video I saw of one of their shows was fantastic, with Jello vigerously miming along to each song.
Key: Complain about this post
