I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue
frankandsense Posted Apr 22, 2009
Hi there Folderol2,
Thanks to the British Empire, we Brits seemed to have convinced the rest of the world that they should learn to speak English. This works out very well for me. I did learn enough German to be able to order a beer and a meal, while I was over there for National Service, but in the main I find these foreigners talk too fast in their strange tongues for me to keep up.
I have a son living in Gibraltar, who is getting married over there in June. I am visiting soon to meet my In-laws to be. Was there at Xmas, and for a short holiday last summer. My boy speaks Spanish well enough; he is ex-pat and lived and worked in Spain for a number of years. He has a little house in Casariche (north of Malaga) which he hopes to sell one day, but now lives in Gib. In more affluent times he treated us all to a week in a Spanish Villa with heated pool and all that good stuff. The pound having lost out to the euro, times are hard in the building and development game, the economic downturn is truly worldwide.
Gibraltar seems to have a lot of rich playboy types who can offer opportunities in the good times, but the good times have gone away for a while. We shall see, we shall see.
I am waiting for my children to grow rich so that they can pay back the money they borrowed from me. Is that too ambitious a plan?
We shall see, we shall see. Meanwhile we have a wedding to attend, people to meet and things to do; money to spend!

Morning Frank and Polly - and you too Folly (get my kicks following you around ).
I had meant to say, Frank, that posting a piece of poetry ending with 'antidisestablishmentarianism' would not be cruel so much as pointless: AHL knows all about the poemhunter site, which is why he made that remark about me being giltee - and also why I made the remark about my giltee secret (which I didn't expect to lead to a chain of personal revelations).
Anyway, I've just seen, as you may have done, that Anna has bonged the poem thread, on the grounds that the MC board is for playing silly games and not for quoting poetry. Quite ironic, really - there were plenty of silly games being played there, I thought.
Folly, have you thought about getting your rear-view mirror fixed by the windscreen replacement people? It's part of what they do, obviously, and they might be cheaper than a main dealer, though I wouldn't know.
¡hasta luego!

waiting4atickle Posted Apr 22, 2009
My mistake. I thought Anna had bonged the poem thread, but apparently she hasn't - yet!

Thanks for suggestion about windscreen people, Tickle, I'll look into it.
Poem about the Budget? Not a lot of fun in that! I'll wait to see what the main points are and have a go, although I am more McGonagall without the ironic humour that most readers of his impose on his works. Nowhere near Milton or Byron. Love the Love poets of the 60's, though so I might apply their appraoch to life, to the budget

No time, Frank - off out to get some booze and fags.
Isn't the budget speech itself poetic enough for you?

W4AT says AHL, if you "much prefer writing silly verse" why bother with this board in the first place? (Except to disrupt it?)
Excuse me oh pompous and hypocritical one, the Noard is a silly ISIHAC board, the THREAD was a poetry on. I was the only one writing on the poetry thread real extracts with full accreditation in order to provide some intellectual stimulus. All the "silly" threads were destroyed by your bullying and your encouragement of others to bully (eg, when have I ever met up with Nickcosmo on the boards?). I showed you how you could join in without disruption, how every thread could be run according to protocols - you, or GilTee, decided that your own daft verse could disrupt where you whinged at others "I can't find that... not allowed... please teacher tell him off!"
Grow up, W4, lose the hypocrisy, and things might run smoothly.

Now I see the Poem thread is truly dead. I have asked for the Anarchic Poetry thread to remain. Fingers crossed. A pity if we cannot exchange poems on the Mornington Crescent Board. It took some time to establish our right to do so, and now we may have lost it. What a pity.

AHL, Anyone who was crazy enough to look back through the Pome threads would observe that, whereas I have been a regular contributor, doing my best to observe the letter and spirit of the game in the face of intense provocation, you only show up when there is no-one else around to bully on the other threads; most of your other victims having apparently grown tired of your insults and concluded that you prefer to play with yourself.
When it comes to bullying and hypocrisy, snide comments and insults, and downright offensiveness, there is no-one to match you - although Mr CosmoSonde, a maverick poster over whom I have absolutely no influence, might well make the attempt.
As for English O level, your repeated misrepresentations of my remarks leads me to believe that you must have had a special exemption from the Comprehension paper. Either that, or you deliberately twist the truth for your own foul purposes.
Now bog off, will you - I really don't want to have to bother the moderators with complaints.

Folderol2 Posted Apr 22, 2009
I know Hairy will respond to this with some more snide comments when I've had my say, and he'll probably refer back to when I left the boards altogether for some time as I was sick and fed up with him, but I must support your comments, Tickle, as I wholeheartedly concur with what you say about Hairy's whole approach to these boards.
If you feel we should complain to the mods, I will certainly be with you.
OK, Hairy, off you go with your bleating about being bullied, etc., etc. Ho hum.

Air-Hair-Lair Posted Apr 22, 2009
W4AT and Folder - examine your consciences - I only ever write about the thread and activity - all the snide comments and bile, and rude verses and innuendo about personal traits come from you.

Poetry and anarchy sit comfortably together. yet
Byron, sound a siren, Keats and Shelly hold your belly.
If you must write such awful tripe be sure that you have counted
How many lines you penned, be sure that in the end they wlll be mounted
On a teacher's register,
We may allow you eight or nine but do not write another line until I have said yes.
We cannot allow you just to guess
The pattern that is pleasing to the ear.
Do not relax, you poets, you must live your lives in fear.

What arrant nonsense! You have trashed the poem threads with insults and snide comments about me, all based on your own stupid or feigned misunderstanding of my remarks, and similarly ruined many other threads with your poisonous postings about others.
Please have the decency to stop posting on this thread. It is supposed to be a discussion amongst friends: as you have said, I am NO friend of yours, and you are certainly not one of mine - when I referred to you as "my old fiend", it was not a typing error.
And if you really don't want to be talked about, as much as your behaviour suggests the contrary, it would be a good idea to stop making such a foolish exhibition of yourself. Believe me, we would all much rather talk about something - anything! - else.

Air-Hair-Lair Posted Apr 22, 2009
W4AT - you started a vendetta - you challenged every post I made - even to the extent of using the very same Emily Dickinson poem that you told me was "unacceptable" - even though you were making up your "rules" as you went along.
Alll I have ever doen is ask you to apologise - and mostly I did that with humour so that you could respond with humour - instead you send in the clowns from your h2g2 threads.
So, again, all I can ask is that you grow up.
I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue
waiting4atickle Posted Apr 22, 2009
Well, folks, I suppose we should be grateful for the fact that imagination is obviously not, as some suggest, the prerogative of the young. But if growing up means being like AHL, I hope I never do.
On a more serious note, does anyone know how we go about getting this cuckoo out of the nest? Polly won't be very happy when she sees what a mess has been made of her thread.

So - snide, rude, bilious, you name it, you seem to be trying it. QED

AHL, you shouldn't be here, you're not welcome, go away.

W4 - my understanding is that this is a BBC site, and as a licence payer I am entitled to post here. I am only here because you choose to gossip here about me - so who is to blame? Who is snide? Who is making offensive comments and then caught out because they are overheard (or overseen in theis case).
Again, some growing up for you to do W4.

Thanks, frank, two minutes out of moderation and already you are misbehaving - how juvenile!

frankandsense Posted Apr 22, 2009
You are an old fool AHL. You always assume the worst of others. And you are always reaching for the cat pee button. What is wrong with you? Why can't you be friendly like everybody else on these boards? Why do you insult people in public the way that you do, then accuse those you insult of bad behaviour? Why don't you look at the mote in your own eye?
Key: Complain about this post
