That's wonderful, Frank. Have the mods actually notified you that you are officially out of pre-mod, or did they not have the grace to do that?
I know you're a prolific poet, and there are places you can post your verses where the time delay doesn't really matter. But I imagine that, if you spend a lot of time on the MBs, it's nice to be able to interact with other posters, and join in the fun in real time. Like on the RBQ thread, for instance. It must have been incredibly frustrating not to be able to do so.
Let's hope for some plain sailing from now on.

No official notification Tickle. All of a sudden I could post direct again. I felt quite flat. Almost switched off. You have no idea of the stress it causes to be ostracised in that way. You start to have doubts about yourself, and look for support that isn't there. It was a very black period, and should it ever start again, that would be it for me. I would throw this darned thing on a skip.
I am enjoying quizzles at the moment, though I have a problem keeping up with that fast moving thread at times, and I get pretty tired.
I try not to be a pain in the butt but I am at times, as are we all.
Bedtime now, so will chat later.

I've got that 'flat' feeling too(for different reasons) Frank. The action seems to be on the RBQ thread, but I'm too slow for it.
Did you both have a happy day?

Evenin' Polly, Frank.
Why are you feeling flat, Polly? Because you're back 'home'?
It is certainly hard to keep up on RBQ when it's crowded - as it always seems to be when you turn up, Polly.
Sometimes it's very quiet, though, and Frank ends up talking to himself. The good thing about it, from my point of view, is that I don't get insulted there.
Did you notice that I had three posts modded on the Poet Tree yesterday. You might not have done, as two of them have been reinstated. It was for copyright reasons, would you believe? As the poets in question died in 1642, 1882 and 1936 respectively, that seems a bit rum, don't you think?
Time to hit the sack, I think. Have a good week.

Hello W4aT and Frank.
I've just noticed that our 'pome' thread has been closed prematurely. So I have posted on the new 'pome' thread (and followed on from the last 'legitimate' poem). I'm expecting a comment because of it. )
I'm off tomorrow for a few days. On Sunday, if I am back at home, we have so much going on for most of the day at church. And then I am at Spring Harvest for 6 days from Tuesday.
What are you both doing at Easter? I truly hope that you both have a happy few days. I'll be glad to be away.
Oops, I'm running out of wine. Have you a spare bottle, please?

Hi Polly,
No rational person could object to that post. However, there are some irrational people about. I imagine there would be an objection if I made such a posting, but you may escape censure.
I complained to Anna about the fact that poems which are out of copyright were being removed on the grounds of copyright infringement. She said they don't have the resources to check every post, which is fair enough on one level, although it doesn't really explain why postings are removed in such an arbitrary and haphazard fashion.
She also referred me to the terms of use, but all they say is that you shouldn't post things which infringe copyright. My solution would be to give the poet's year of death in the attribution, assuming that it's more than 70 years ago, or else limit the quote to a couple of lines or so. That ought to make it easier for the mods to see that copyright is not being infringed. Whether I can be bothered to post there, however, is a moot point. The whole thing is a mockery at the moment.
I'm afraid we've been out of wine for a few days now. I'm starting to get cold turkey. I was hoping our friends from France would come over at Easter and bring a fresh supply, but, like us, they're busted flat. They seem to have a very strange system over there whereby you only get family allowance if you have three or more children. Unfortunately, the eldest of their three has just turned 20 and no longer counts, so they have suffered a massive reduction in their income. The thing to do in France, it would appear, is to have triplets.
Have a good Easter, Polly. You too, Frank.

Happy Easter To Polly and Tickle and a happy 21st birthday to Tickle (on Friday is it?).
My son and granddaughter coming to see me over the weekend, so I am off to find my Hoover..clean up a bit..we hermits are messy devils. I am out of milk again, yes I know Polly!
Poetry situation grim in "the other place" and a certain person persecuting anyone who challenges his rules, then accusing others of behaviours that he suffers from himself. A clear case of "transference", a recognised coping mechanism. We must make allowances.
Sad that much of the monitoring appears to be automatic and electronic, so there is no defense against 'catpeeing' (something that never should have been introduced; a very lazy way of controlling behaviour).
Ah well, things to do, things to do, so bye bye for now my dears. Catch you after Easter, when we will all, hopefully, be resurrected in spirits. Love to you and yours from Frank. xxx

Hello, Frank,
Just had a look in the other place, and it seems hopeless. Think I'll steer clear.
Hope you have a good time with your son and granddaughter.
Here's to the resurrection of our spirits.

My house was awash with chocolate for two days. I have just eaten a whole easter egg to myself to celebrate the calm that has descended upon my life now that my 4 year old granddaughter has gone home. I feel a bit sick and what teeth I have left are aching. Hardly rowed with my number one son at all, which was good. Have a backache from too much life. Not used to all this dashing around. Peaceful and lonely again.
Have a happy Easter world.

Funny thing about that other place. Still a lot of anger and pride hanging around that bad old place. I don't settle there long.

Hi, Frank. It seems AHL has hunted me down and discovered my giltee secret, but I'm not sure why he accuses me of hypocrisy.
Could have done with you on RBQ tonight, the place has been almost deserted. Like just about everywhere else. Still, at least you seem to have livened up the BP thread.
Looks like Pompey will avoid the drop now. They certainly look safer than my team, although there's some hope even for Forest.

I guess we all have guilty secrets Tickle, those without such secrets are either very boring, or just kidding themselves.
My secret is mainly that I can no longer sustain a relationship, having experienced a string of disappointments, not the least of these being a disappointment in myself.
Hope springs eternal, and dark thoughts late at night can easily be replaced by grateful thoughts in the morning, that brings new promise of sunshine and thoughts of meeting friends down the local as I read my Sunday papers.
It's a good life, so enjoy it.
I may get back to quizzes later, but taking a bit of a rest from that right now; other things in my life stating to intrude on my selfishness.
Sometimes other people don't allow me to be a proper hermit.
Play up Pompey!
Cheer up Forest!

Hello W4aT and Frank.
Ooh! I seem to have missed much action somewhere! More unpleasantness?
So, the subject is 'dark secrets'?!! Hmm, well I have had my share. The earliest must have been my being in love with Bill Simpson many years ago. And then I read that he had committed adultery somewhere! I was so shocked and sad (I had led a very sheltered existence!!).
I broke someone's 'ginger jar' years ago. In sheer desperation I glued the broken piece back on to the jar ~ and glued my finger with it...
And you must promise not to tell anyone about this secret!!~~~~~ I think that Bill Oddie is lovely. He introduced me to bird-watching years ago and I am very grateful.
Now, were they 'dark' enough? There was the incident with the French student teacher........and the moon was.........the corridor.....Fortes coffee.......................................
I've still got an Easter egg in the fridge.
I must get to bed early tonight. I am so worn out.
Frank, I'm so happy for you that you have family that visit you. I have only my daughter and I see so little of her as she is so busy. It makes me sad...But my brother in Australia has rung to tell me that he will be in the UK in September which means that we will have a few days away somewhere together. That will be wonderful.
I spend a lot of time on my own but I have grown to love my 'space'. I'm quite happy bird-watching or walking or picnicing on my own. I still think often of the happy times I had with my late fiancé and of what 'might have been'. But I am blessed with an enormous love for nature, and I get endless joy from it.
Time for a cup of coffee.
Polly

Dear Polly,
A fondness for Bill Oddie! such a confession. Hardly noticed what else you got up to.
Had three pics of India Rose climbing to the top of a frame in the park sent to me today. She is a joyful little thing.
Glad to see you back again, with your poetry.
They use poetry as a weapon at times it seems. What a strange idea?
Catch you later Polly

Nice to see you around, Polly, if only briefly. You haven't missed much while you've been away, but you have been missed. Hope you're feeling rejuvenated today.
I suspect there's a long tradition of poetry being used as a weapon of warfare, Frank. BTW, you were just in time to preempt my posting "Stand not upon the order of your going, But go at once".
Have a good day.

Hi Tickle,
I am still trying to find a poem ending with the word Antidisestablishmentarianism, so that I can fit it in nicely in "Poets corner".
I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue
waiting4atickle Posted Apr 21, 2009
Text search on ph throws up five such 'poems'. http://www.poemhunter.com/search/?q=antidisestablishmentarianism&Submit=Find&w=text
The delicious taste of words is quite good. I guess they're all in copyright, though.

On second thoughts, it would be just too cruel, Tickle. Make peace not war, as they say. Off to Sunny Gib soon...Thurs 30th. Fun fun fun.

Morning all - hope you don't mind if I elbow my way onto this thread
I see you've been talking about guilty secrets, then, in amogst all that, Frank admits to looking forward to going to Gib! Where's your sense of adventure, Frank? A bit of foreign language is always a challenge I relish. However, that leads to one of my secrets - we have a place in Sapin that we visit about 5 or 6 times a year and I am absolutely hopeless at Spanish and even the checkout girls in the local supermarket put me to shame!
There! I've admitted it! I feel better for that
Actually, Frank, your talk of Gib reminds me of the only time I went there. We were on a holiday in Algeciras and decided to go there for the day - but, as they often say about Belgium - it was closed! True! It was some sort of holiday and most of the shops were closed so a spot of retail therapy was ruled out (thank goodness, I say!)
Seriously, though, Frank, I trust you will have a great time there - do you go there often or is this your first visit? Be sure to take a trip over the water to Africa - although the Spanish enclave there might as well be any Spanish town.
I'm waiting for a call from a man about delivering catalogues locally - a little extra job and a way of dioing a lot more of the exercise I ought to be doing anyway. Then off to town - market day - and then to get the interior mirror on MOH's car fixed - it fell off the windscreen! The special glue I got worked for a few hours only and then it fell off again, so it's the main dealers for me - which will mean a cost, I suppose
Have a good day everyone
