It is only a dream of the grass blowing
east against the source of the sun
in an hour before the sun's going down

"My friend, you were among the brightest, now you seem most dumb."

Alone in my mansion at Christmas,
I heard the beat of a hoof.
I rushed outside, and lo and behold,
There were reindeer on my roof.

I don't know how they got there,
I don't know where they went,
But over the months, my fireplace
Exuded an ominous scent.

I looked in the Yellow Pages,
And called up the chimney guys;
I asked them to clean out my stinking flue
And my chimney full of flies.

I won't tell you what they found there
(Health and Safety was to blame).
Now my chimney's equipped with a stairlift,
But Christmases won't be the same. smiley - ghost

Roses, their petals pale silver, in the soft gray shadows, of early morning light, Blossoms dancing scents, through the long gold shadows, of summer daylight, Their beauty radiant, and gossamer bright, Earthbound stars, Under summers moonlight

This one's doubly apt. Not original, though, I hasten to warn you. Note the half-pun in the last line.

No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon -
No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day.
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! -
November!

Won’t be growing anytime soon any heather,
Birds do grow extra in the winter feathers,
People do where in the cold jackets of leather,
I don’t know where to go, what to do or whether…

Snow on the horizon and predicted,
The geese do fly south; they have been evicted,
To this winter weather I doubt I will become addicted,
When young I did love the cold,
Now I find that I, myself, have contradicted…

Cold for quite a bit longer,
What does not kill us; makes us all the stronger,
No more in the summer will I complain of the heat,
Happy am I, I do not live on the cold concrete street…

kangalew oftimes Lew-- NEVER Louis!

I am the daughter of Earth and Water,
And the nursling of the Sky;
I pass through the pores of the ocean and shores;
I change, but I cannot die.
For after the rain when with never a stain
The pavilion of Heaven is bare,
And the winds and sunbeams with their convex gleams
Build up the blue dome of air,
I silently laugh at my own cenotaph,
And out of the caverns of rain,
Like a child from the womb, like a ghost from the tomb,
I arise and unbuild it again.

Percy Bysshe Shelley, 'The Cloud'. (last verse)

Once more, the silence swamps the woods
Where all the trees are struggling to breathe,
And the fungal paradise grows on
Across the twilit forest floor.

There is Munchkin laughter everywhere,
As sunbeams cut a caper cross the sky.
The leprechaun is pointing over there:
A great and glorious rainbow greets the eye.
