Micio is lovely company too. smiley - cat

I guess I should thank my lucky stars that I'm only dealing with some bipolar fluctuations, and not tooth problems, etc. I'm sorry you've been in such pain, and had side effects on top.

I never had to agonize over the bipolar diagnosis, because my symptoms were so profound, there was no question. In fact, in the hospital in 1993 I'm the one who said, "Hey, they just described bipolar, and I think I'm it."

I'm finally starting to get sleepy. Maybe I can wean myself from the computer soon.

smiley - rofl Glad to hear that!! I had a horrible mental picture for a moment of you on one side of the room, doing cold turkey, desperately chewing on a rusk, with the poor little computer on the other side weeping "Waaah, where is my Mommy?"

I have a "petit pause": le V has trundled off home in a grumpy zombie state, but i haven't actually murdered him & spif is popping round tonight, after i have finished with dental torment.

Got woken up far too early by next door landlord, who wants to contact S & L re: them maybe renting his house. They are in UK at the moment, so it's not easy to contact them, but i did my best. It would be fantastic for all concerned if they move in; Laurence has car & kid & cat, we get on very well, she is fed up with no "girlie" company, so am i! Cat-sitting/baby-sitting; mutual shopping, escape from partners being a pain etc.....smiley - winkeyei guess it's sort of like an extended family set up. Keep fingers crossed that the rent isn't too high.

So: I went to the dentist.

We spent 45 minutes & 2 phone calls on discussing payment. I am not covered by State health care for anything except my handicap stuff & don't have private insurance.

I gave him $20; which he shoved in his pocket.

I said, nice & zennitudely "I would like a reciept for that please." He mumbled.

I said "Also; i would like a printed statement of the work you have done so far & the cost. Then i can take that to my Social Worker, who may decide some reimbursement is possible."

That took 20 minutes to type out. I could have done it quicker myself, even in French.

Then i said "And what about this abcess? How, exactly, have i suddenly developed an abcess, i realise my teeth aren't great, but it's slightly odd that i get this straight after visiting the dentist, and also odd that Le Viking plus my ex did also. Is it common during/ after dental treatment?"

Apparently it's purely coincidental (no pun intended; though i laughed like a badly drained root canal) But the best solution (more hollow laughing) is a Full X ray of the mouth. which will cost around $40.

"how about just an X ray of the tooth in question?"

More mumbles. Eventual agreement, probably because new victims are piling up in the waiting room.

He finally actually looks into my mouth.

"Ah, the problem is with the lower left hand tooth."

Does he really, seriously believe i don't know that?????????

I ask "is this abcess likely to return, seeing as how you haven't actually done anything?"

"I don't know, i am not telepathic. But you should be OK for a couple of days. Anyway, time is up, i have patients to see."

Ones with private insurance, presumably.

Gaaargh: i forgot the worst bit!!

After i gave him the money & said i was going to the Social Worker; he went white & said "Do Not tell them you paid me anything!"

So: he is basically trying to claim twice for work he hasn't actually bloody well done!!! This really, totally racks me off.

Professional? I think not. But since i have no alternative, i have to keep being zen. But it's a very small town!smiley - evilgrin

Why don't you stick him in his own chair and give him some of his own treatment. Just like the scene in Marathon Man....smiley - laugh

That turned me off going to the dentist for years, but think of the money I saved....smiley - biggrin

To my shame I haven't been to a dentist since 1997*.smiley - yikes The teeth still seem to be intact though.

*I needed a wisdom tooth filling but had a gig on the night of he appointment. Really didn't fancy playing with post-dentist mouth. Not a single jot of trouble from the tooth since.

I think teeth are best left alone to do their own thing without interference. talk to your tooty pegs & whisper sweet zennitude mantras at them. If they fall out, that's their problem. "Wisdom " & "tooth" is an oxymoron.

Ahhh. Had a delightful lovely evening with spifree, we wandered off into town, the big outdoor café area, an extremely tedious band playing, but so what. As we remarked:

Spif: "Django Reinhardt, please go & do this in someone elses garden, it's really tedious"

zdt: "yes, actually, these things are best done by 15 year olds in the privacy of their own bedroom"

But lovely to actually go out in public with a Brilliant Fiend & decide that, for starters, we are going to rule the world, sort out all this nonsense with poverty, starvation & relationship crap. After that, we tackle global warming.

We start tomorrow. We are Being Tourists & visiting chateaux & cute & cuddly froggly villages. What fun!smiley - biggrinsmiley - somersaultsmiley - biggrin

Hi Terri and all I hope you are all keeping well.smiley - hugsmiley - cuddle

I have just looked at the news and it is forecasted heavy rain for most of the UK but on another news report it says that Sunday will be the hottest for this year.

Wow, isn't it amazing how forecasts can vary so? The weather service I use reports that most of the UK will have high temps only around 20°C. Doesn't it annoy you when one forecast says "hottest day this year" and another forecasts gorgeous, comfortable weather? smiley - rolleyes Makes me wonder where they get the different info from. Luckily, the service I use (weather underground) is reasonably accurate. smiley - laugh

It'll only be 26°C here on Sunday- nice and comfortable. 33°C on Monday- the first day of my vacation. I wonder what I can do to enjoy a warm, sunny, non-humid day?

Terri, sometime next week we'll have to share a post-dental commiseration.

Psychocandy I remeber seeing reports in the newspaper saying that June in the UK will be very hot and recently I heard of reports that the weather will improve from late July to August and we will be having an Indian summer.

I live in a twillight zone which is not covered by London News/Weather or Anglia/East News/Weather. I have even found that sometimes we can be having the same weather as Japan or even New York.

Dentists are not places I like to go to, the sound of the drills makes my blood go cold.

From very hot to Indian summer is quite a fluctutation- you'll have to keep us posted which report was right. I realize meteorology can't be an *exact* science, but one would think that they might get it right once in a while!

Stay cool over there, Thinker. Though I have to say living in a twilight zone doesn't sound all that bad. smiley - winkeye

The sounds of the drills don't bother me as much as they did when I was a kid. But I have really sensitive teeth. I need anesthetic for darn near any procedure, and having cotton or gauze in my mouth makes me crawl the walls.

Hello Everyone from Sir Peeb...smiley - smiley. I am slowly settling in at my new place, but there is no landline connection here, being a tourist part.
So, Sir Peeb being flush with funds has gone high tech. I bought my first ever mobile phone yesterday AND a wireless broadband lap top computer...smiley - biggrin...so now I am back in action!
At the moment I am laying in bed, using my new computer...Lap Dancing in bed, so to speak.....smiley - laugh....

Hmmf, watching the weather forecast for here even as we squeak! Charente/Charente Maritime is a strange place, it's what they term a "micro-climat", a funny little pocket of weather that seems to make up it's own rules, regardless of what the rest of France is doing. Rebel region!smiley - nahnah

They very rarely get it right, it must be a nightmare, you can imagine the forecasters saying" OK, chaps: there's a cold front/depression/whatever: so we can predict with reasonable certainty which poor souls will freeze/roast/drown....er; anyone got any ideas what we tell the Charentaises?"

"Stuff it, tell them it will snow in the morning & be 45° full sun in the afternoon"

But today was lovely warm sunshine, spifree arrived around 3pm & then we sort of sprung a surprise on Le Viking & hauled him off to share a picnic in a very zen place, by a river in the countryside. Very pleasant!

The "meteo" (weather forecast) for tomorrow reckons the rest of France will have temperatures around 20°, but Charente will be 35°...we shall see.

My bloody toothache is back. I have another rendezvous with the dentist on Monday. It may be a memorable experience for him.smiley - grrif he doesn't damn well sort it out.
