For newcomers to this mad journal, i should explain that Abbi is definitely the best thing invented since sliced bread, bleagh, who needs sliced bread anyway? She has been away for ages, & very much missed.

One thing maybe you might have some advice on; with bi-polar stuff, is it possible for someone to have a cycle of around 6 days "OK" then 2 days "manic" then a day of "total flip" followed by 2 days "total down" then back to the Ok stuff?

From what i've read, i would think the turnaround is longer. Talking about a person not on any meds at all.

Okay Terri, I'll chat bout my swings. I average 3 weeks up, and 4 weeks down, back and forth.

Just went up on both my meds. The abilify helps stabilize me, but is giving me some nervous energy tonight. Also gone up on the Zac. Hope this combination helps even things out, because the alternative mood stabilizer my doc mentioned is much more risky in terms of side effects.

Eeek, side effects; yuk. Obviously try & steer clear, for instance, the doc gave me codeine based painkillers for tooth abcess; yes, they help pain BUT i was bloated as a giant hamster within 24 hours, utterly zombified, unable to go to the loo..........i am not designed for opiate based stuff obviously!!! It ended up that i couldn't eat at all; not even soup, so blood sugar plummeted, i was just a wobbly, tearful wreck; i just wished to die.

Quite honestly; last week was total hell. The fact that i could post on here kept me going, so thank you, my fiends.

The bi-polar thing: I just don't know if that's what it is; i am utterly exhausted trying to find an explanation for someone who has such massive mood swings, i go up & down like a yo-yo too; at what pont is this defined as "bi-polar disorder"? It's all just so bloody extreme & at times really quite scary. What is "normal"???? At what point do you say "hang on, cannot cope with not knowing what will happen next?"

It's ridiculous, it's the blind leading the blind; i struggle to keep my own stuff sorted, when he goes into overdrive i react likewise. But as he says "You understand because you are the same"...i reply "Yes. But the difference is i can socialise, even via internet, i have support, you have only me; buti can't carry the burden of YOUR stuff, i am not your shrink"

*round and round in circles we go; where we are going, nobody knows* Not slept all night. Again.

*except maybe Yoda; who is wise, faithful & kind. And who disappears rapidly when voices raise; but reappears later to cuddle mummy. Lovely Yoda.
