Hello all!
Welcome Mad Meg; great to meet you..although the name is familiar, maybe we bumped into each other somewhere? No doubt the midwifery is a bit more rewarding than the factory, but...factories are necessary too, so is paying the rent etc.
Actually, this "eyes" thread has been going for a while now, maybe it's about time I started a new one. Any suggestions for a namùe? Must include the word "eye/eyes" & be fairly short.
Terri

How about 'The "EYES" have it!', or 'I've got my "EYES" on you!" or coming from my "Jazz-y place" 'Smoke Gets In Your "EYES" .

Nice ones jaZZ!
I love the song "smoke gets in yours eyes".
I think it must have been one of the first songs I remember hearing.
My Mom always looked off into space with an unusual but pleasant look on her face
Oh theres one too! Big Eyes!

I like the "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" suggestion Jazz!
Terri, I was gonna say "Eyes of the Storms", but I think "Smoke" is better!

Yes, things're going good abbi! I was afraid it would be a struggle today...last night I kept getting "Greetings unknown hiker" or "hello unknown visitor" *rolls eyes*

Hi jazz, Abbi, Roadkill.
Yes, thank goodness it seems to be going OK now; I was getting pretty tired of the "Unknown Hiker" bit too!
Glad you're back safe & sound Abbi!
Been pretty busy here, mainly concerned with spim's blossoming future as a cartoonist here in Angoulême. Great news: he has been invited to join a bunch of other artists in an atélier (workshop/studio)in town. This means he will be right in the thick of things, he gets access to all sorts of facilities, first grabs at any work that comes up & great contacts with publishers & the Comic Festival itself. Basically, it means his work has been acknlowedged to be pretty damn good by those in the know about these things.
See here for more details:
http://www.atelier-sanzot.com (It's a French site; I can't get the translation facility to work, maybe you can. Click on the main picture to go into various stuff.)
He's now busily engaged in trying to learn French.....
I shall post a "congratulations" type thread on his page ( U181927 ) if you feel like popping in & showering praise upon him!
On the not-so-good side, still having major problems with Tiscali, finances are yet again desperate (whilst spim has been working on his portfolio etc, obviously he can't be out hunting for temp work) & no, we haven't moved yet. The flat across the way needs quite a bit doing to it to make it habitable & the landlord is in the process of doing this...slowly. He is adamant that because I painted over his apalling wallpaper (with his permission!) he will be unable to re-let it so he says he won't give us the key to the other one until we find someone to live here! So we continue to co-exist in a space that is quite frankly far too small. It's testimony to spim's good nature that we haven't had "words" at all despite the stress of this.
Oh well, no doubt "something will turn up"; this is the unofficial motto & ethos of Angoulême...just rather frustrating in the meantime. But, as spim remarked today, he's not been bored since coming here!
I shall decide on a new "Eyes" thread in the very near future, but not today, not feeling particulatrly brilliant. I was daft & ate virtually nothing yesterday then indulged in a massive fry-up today & am now paying the price; spim says I am a "captive dirigible", ie a barrage balloon! Stand well clear!!!smiley.
OK, off to lurk the backlog, squeak soon.
Terri.

Hi Terri, to hear about your probs Its funny how they always come in groups Have you noticed that, we never seem to have just ONE to worry about!
We are at the end of the road with our noisy neighbour, it seems that if you are a house owner occupier, you have no rights at all and the council tenants can do what they like with the councils and social services dept support Ah! Happy day
