I like downloading the really bizarre music. Nirvana covering the Beatles. Punk versions of "Somewhere over the rainbow" (yes that actually exists) and Eminem dubbed over Britney Spears. That sort of thing.

I was in a rock choir, that did (amongst many other things) "Smells like teen Spirit" acapella, bloody stunning it was too.

I suspect you won't find it; I probably have the only live recording (the sound engineer was Z U185843 !!!)
--probably will be worth a fortune one day. The lead singer was Chan-Mick Le Frog (a h2g2 person but lapsed, possibly lurking?); superb.
The 1st live gig was here in France at the Fêtes da la Musique; a national event , where live music "dans la rue" is the order of the day, sorta cross between Notting Hill Carnival, Mardi gras & Woodstock. Great stuff.
Very glad to have been part of it.

Oh Jeeez, this sounds so COZY!! I'm deeply envious of this sweet little love nest. Congratulations Spim and Terri, I'm content that you are so content and happy.
If you like classic black and white photography Terri, I bet you would like Robert Doisneau!

I suppose a conceptual spork is a start, but it's still not a really is it? Keep on the campaign trail m'dear!
As for the inevitable "Real" Life at this end:
19th September 2003 Angoulême
It looks as though we have found a flat!!! What a bloody relief; I was beginning to despair a bit, mid Septemeber is probably just about the worst time of year to try & find something cheap & fairly central here, all the students, armed with wads of dosh from doting mummy & daddy, have snapped 'em up before the start of term.
But, it seems we have, by the skin of our teeth, managed to jump in & get a flat; it's a bit more expensive than we wanted, but is in good nick, within walking distance of a supermarket, near to Centre Ville & even has a little balcony/terrasse looking out over nice green bits. We think Yoda will possibly forgive the loss of her garden in time, since this one also has a tree; plus she will be able to drop in on the downstairs flat through their sunroof and pop in on the upstairs neighbour too through his conveniently placed window.
The kitchen is amazingly light & leads on to the balcony via a covered walkway; it was this that really sold me on it; I can just imagine us sitting there happily creating cheese-boxes & cartoons & taking a break on the balcony, Yoda happily purring away in the sunshine......
(er, yes, I do know in reality we are coming up for winter & I will no doubt be cursing the wretched outside access & consequent heating bills, but I can dream can't I?)
Plus it not only has a Real Toilet inside the flat, but it has that rare luxury round here....a BATH!!! Oh joy of joys!
Anyway, it is a hell of a weight off my mind & a pretty good birthday pressie for spim! As he says, he is unlikely to forget this birthday, what with the vintage car rally, whiling away the afternoon in French pavement cafés showing off his portfolio to Awl & Sundry (local solicitors & patrons of the arts of course) & being driven around (the bend?) by George, a lunatic Scotsman I met in a previous reincarnation.
--During which drive, spim got a call on his mobile...'twas Amy! Yup, that's right, Amy as in Paperlady, new mum, U.S resident & hootoo's gossip columnist in residence! Unfortunately, the dreaded "echo online" prevented much coherent speech & god knows what it cost both of them, but nice to know hootoo was there with us at yet another important moment...er, I think?
OK, I shall stopp wittering on, the dreaded insomnia is upon me you see, first I can't sleep 'cos I'm worried, now I can't sleep 'cos I'm excited about the new place (but still worried too, spim is realising pretty quickly that worrying comes naturally to me; not much point removing areas of worry since I will create new ones, lack of tangible worries is a very worrying prospect.)

They are in general RK, unless you end up with an inconsiderate, selfish, noisy, SOB, single junkie mother, like we have got living above you . Who keeps you awake with her noise all day & night!! Yet the council can not touch her, coz she has a social worker on her side. Isnt modern life wonderful?????
