the only other people i haven't got are moose and Z the Scout - official time zones please.

i'm going to get this time thing sorted once and for all (off on a little project and will return with the goodies in due time)

I don't really know about our "official" time zone but I think we're on hour ahead of GMT.

It's 20 past 11 in the morning, here.

I meant "one" hour, not "on" hour. Obviously...

Hi kea, I'm on GMT at the moment, well I'm in the Uk so we change between this and British Summer time, (one hour a head.,.)

We also chage time in Summer (on the same day as they do in Britain) and therefore always remain one hour ahead.

Nice to meet you too, but I have to rush as I've promised to visit relatives!

ok. here’s a list of everyone that has posted in this thread so far. it gives everyones official time in relationship to Greenwhich Mean Time (GMT). thus you will be able to ascertain whether they are likely to be online or asleep or whatever, unless they are burning the candle in which case your guess is as good as anything

to convert to someone elses time take your current time, add or subtract your own official time to get GMT, then add or subtract the other researchers official time to get their current time. (it helps to think of yourself as one side or the other of GMT)

eg right now it is 11 pm for KEA. to find out what time it is for ABBI i subtract 13 hours to get GMT, and then i subtract 7 hours.

KEA - 13 hours = GMT, - 7 hours = ABBI time

so KEA 11pm - 13 hours = 10 am, - 7 hours = 3 am ABBI



to convert someone elses time to yours, do the reverse

eg when Terri signed off her 9 hours it was 7.48 am. to get KEA i go :

TERRI - 1 = GMT , + 13 hours = KEA

TERRI 7.48 am - 1 = GMT + 13 hours = 7.48 pm KEA

Z the Scout : GMT + 0

Terri GMT + 1 hour

none of this takes into account daylight savings except for me and moose who i know are in summer time.

if none of this makes sense, do not despair - go to : U203563 and post in the relevant section and then you will turn up on this fabulous page : A831656. in fact i suggest everyone does this anway.


i will update this list as people give or confirm their time zone.

caveat : its really late, and i haven’t double checked everything but will asap

any corrections or suggestions on how to explain this better are most welcome.

I'll simply continue to check and see who is here. There are times I can not sleep to save my own life, and in that case, I'll try and see if I can catch someone

its from the no subject ..... really thread.

everyone was posting what time it was where they were, and by the time i got online the post would be several hours old, and then trying to convert to my time allowing for the laspe in time .. it all got a bit much.

then Terri appointed me "Keeper of The Atlas that is Not in French". she probably didn't think i would take her seriously

anyway, if anyone really wants to be able to know when someone is online, they can use the list. and i still highly recommend going to U203563 and registering so you get on this page A831656 (then anyone will know what time you are on)

as one would expect someone has thought of this before !

i don't actually know what official time zone i'm in...the nearest big city is Sydney (Bcos even though canberra (where i live) is the capital city, everyone thinks that sydney is)

(GMT + 10 in non daylightsavings time, after end of march)

Great job Kea, GMT is the way to go! If you plot it, its vertical lines across the map ( what helped me- the phone book had a time map--took it out). The ISP's also have time maps. There is software that will show you a number of places. My use is sporatic but almost daily. I do not last too long at one sitting. Mostly I love h2g2 at at night and when I cannot sleep. When the *most people are on, I have trouble with the server also during prime U.S. office hours, my connection slows me Excellant links LEO! Nice job!
