Starting to get things straight.

Since I finished uni in at the beginning of June, I've kind of been in limbo. I moved back home, with everything that entails, and immediately began to look for a job so that I could afford to move out and into a house in London with some uni friends.

Having got a 2:1, I was feeling, if not confident, at least fairly hopeful that finding a job would not be too hard. This illusion was quickly dispelled when I walked into my first job agency, where they made it clear that students like me were two a penny, and that they couldn't really be bothered to try and place me. Then I went to another where they pretty much told me that my three years at uni had been a waste of time, and that I would have been better off working for those three years. Which was a bit dispiriting to say the least.

I then have spent the last 2 months either getting sent to mickey mouse job interviews by agencies where I would be getting paid next to nothing to be a jumped up version of a receptionist (when I have a degree and I am fluent in French and English and can just about get by in German smiley - grr) or receiving no replies from the many jobs I applied for. Which got quite depressing, especially when you get turned down for being 'overqualified'. smiley - cross

Still, through the intervention of my mum, who passed my CV on to the HR Department of her company, I am now starting at a reasonable salary in a blue chip company where I will be using my French on a regular basis. So smiley - tongueout to those job agencies and everyone else who didn't see fit to employ me...

Now I've got a job all I have to do is to find a house in London at a reasonable price so I can move out, and then hopefully I can actually start living my life, rather than just killing time waiting for it to begin...

Free at last!

As of yesterday at 1.30, I became officially free of coursework for ever! smiley - wowsmiley - cracker

Yes, my dissertation is now over and handed in. The big dark cloud that has haunted me since September has now lifted! No more waking up every day worrying about it, no more guilt trips because I'm doing something else. smiley - bubblysmiley - bubbly

Now I just have to get two exams out of the way and the non stop drunkenness can start to mark the end of my university days. smiley - cheerssmiley - blue

A puzzle

I am currently trying to work out where the tube of toothpaste that I have found on my desk whilst tidying my room has come from. It's definitely not mine, as it's a different brand from the toothpaste I use, and as far as I know no-one's brought toothpaste into my room. So where has it come from? smiley - huh

Rubbishy Golf!!!

There's no 24 on tonight because of the crappy Golf Masters smiley - steam I wouldn't mind so much if it was anything else, but golf has got to be one of the worst sports to watch live...
