Will you be coming to the meet ? Don't know if you've seen it, but it will be on 8th July in London, same pub as last time.

So, a date has been agreed upon then. I likely won't know until the week preceeding what my intentions are.
I can't get that thread to load... How are you m'dear? Will you be in attendence?

Thanks for asking if I was thinking of going and bringing the museum visit to my attention.
Hope you'll be enjoying the rest of your visit.

Sorry, missed this yesterday when i was back - I'm still a bit tired
Sunday was quiet and relaxed, and the flight home was ok.
It was great to see you, hope you had a good journey home
I hope you don't mind me adding you to my friends list ? With all the ACEing I'm usually doing, messages drop from my list within minutes, so a direct link makes it easier to stay in touch - especially since i don't know today what will be your name tomorrow

Was a good day and good to you and that crowd.
The journey home was uneventful.
I'm content with the name of 'Azathoth' for the time being.
Adding me to your friends list isn't a problem, as long as you don't mind my doing the same in return.

No problem, I'll leave your name on my list then ( I had cheekily added it yesterday )
I really must go and get some aceing done

I've seen your ACE greeting. Tis a good one. Some I've seen consist of little more than just 'Hi, I am an ACE' And a link to ASK.

Thanks When I pondered how to write mine and what to put in, I had a look at the greetings of a few others, then tried to imagine what I'd like to know if I was a newbie. I'm still not sure if it isn't a tad too long, but then again, I think there isn't much more info in it than the essentials.
I've seen a few greetings like those you mention, and maybe they are exactly right, with most people having such a short attention span nowadays, but such a short message just wouldn't be like me

Can't say I an see the positive or funny side of such greetings.
My greeting was quite a long one back when I was ACE'ing. Linked to DNA's welcome. the writing guidlines and the forum amongst other things. I'd take a look at any interest they'd expressed and try to find clubs to link to as well.
A 'Hi' and a link to Ask, just seems awful to me.

Yes, you're right, but who am I to tell others how to write their messages
Linking to DNA's welcome sounds like a good idea ( I didn't know there was one ), maybe I'll replace the link to the good deeds club with that one. And you're right, if the newbie has written an introduction naming his/her interests or maybe even nationality, I always write an extra sentence or two and link to the clubs or conversations that might interest them.

I would suggest that you are someone who knows how write a decent message. ACEforum is a place where just what goes into a useful and worthwhile ACE greeting can be discussed openly. Frankly I think a debate on what is good preactice as far ACEing goes is needed.
I'm not an ACE anymore but I'm still subscribe to 'I'm New...' because people ask questions there and all they get for their trouble is "I think you should ask this on Askh2g2" Or "Have some and and watch us recycle some old in jokes that amuse us but mean nothing to you!" to put it bluntly.

Well, I'm still relatively new as an ACe ( since March this year), and most of the others have benn ACEs for ages, so it would seem odd if I started to debate other people's messages. Have you ever thought of applying to be an ACE again ? We really could do with some engaged people

I put my name down on the volunteering page a while back. Either they aren't recruiting or they aren't recruiting me...

aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Aug 25, 2006
I haven't seen that, thought I was subscribed
Tnhey haven't recruited any new aces lately, but I'll go and suggest that you be an ace again

Hi, what's with your current name tag ? Parts of it sound intriguing, the last part sounds rather worrying
Nice feature with the ~ on your PS, how do you do it, is it combined with a viewer tag ?
