next term i will be in 6th year
and i have been campaning to try and drop my RE lessons
but because i go to a roman catholic school (although i am not catholic)i cant....
so i have to do RE for 6 years.... with no qualification at the end of it....
i think this is extremely unfair...

do you like philosophy. if so approach it from that angle and make it clear you agree with the deontilogical arguement. this is the argument against the existence of God.

if you have no choice, you may as well make it hard for them or just not participate. refuse to do any of the work and do your other classes homework during lesson. the first priority of a P.O.W is to make life difficult for the enemy tie up his resources and escape.

i think that if you look for it to be contradictory that is what you will see. the Bible for example is a very cleverly written book. if it was really that obviously contradictory then why do so many people believe it because they look at it as the truth, and that is what they see one way or another.

can anyone name a contradictory reference from the bible and i will interpret it the way a christian would and show you how it is not contradictory.

I think you're right that you shouldn't have to do R.E. It's not as if it makes you believe any more - if anything, it significantly reduces the possibility of you ever wanting to believe anything they say!

There's no point forcing Christianity on anyone. All it does it reinforces resentment.

yes but you go to a catholic school (i do too) and you get taught r.e. because its a catholic school. the clue is in the name, only for catholic children (but people who arent catholic can get in so the council give the school money so it is not jyst the local catholic churches who pay for the school).
obv you go to the school because it is good, if you dont like it then just think when youve left you never have to think about it again... personally r.e. is great

i go to a catholic school because thats ware my mother went
and i think 6th form is a bit late to change schools....

all we do is cover over the same topics every year....
and thay wont let me get out of it.....

I managed to get out of RE at school by getting my mum to write letters saying she was a Jehovahs witness and she objected to me taking a curriculum RE. (She had been previously so I asked her to remain consistent )

Well PHENOM you'll find that I have typed at length about why Christianity/Judaism are still around in a 'god' convo on my page!

At which I am more than willing to discuss.. not argue.. unless I do...

our situations are very similar but i have the whole strong catholic faith thing going on (confirmed in c of e though - tis complicated)

If you want fun in RE, use logic to disprove religeon.

to be quite honist it isent really the RE that annoyes me it is the fact that i dident have a choise

but using logic sounds like fun....

I haven't got it myself, but a friend of mine has, and he says an RE classroom should have a sign on the door saying: Abandon logic, all ye who enter here
