Apologies for those of you who are getting hit in the face with this message from all directions, but PeerReview is really struggling at the moment. The ComingUp page has the fewest entries I've ever seen on it and there are only a few pages of entries in Peer Review.
Put simply, the edited guide needs you! There are a fair few experienced writers doing what they can to increase the number of entries in PR but we can't do it alone. I'd like to encourage everyone to get some entries into Peer Review (make sure you check the Writing Guidelines first though!)
Write about something that interests you, your town, your university, your hobby, your favourite sport or team, your favourite computer game. Write a biography of someone you admire. How about the last book you read, or your favourite film? Are you a student? Perfect! Tell us what you're studying - it might even help you to remember it! If you are a student, perhaps you have some old essays or presentations saved on your computer that you can convert into h2g2 entries.
If none of those ideas appeal, try picking something from the Editor's Challenge (you can win a h2g2 tshirt!) or one of the other suggestions on Challenge the h2g2 commmunity. (A1293365). Go to the Flea Market (<./>Writing-FleaMarket</.> and choose an entry there.
There's plenty of help available if you're unsure if your entry is reading, put it in the Edited Guide Writing Workshop or ask here and I'll take a look for you.
Please, get writing!

Hi Elentari, Peer Review being so quiet is something I've been discussing with several friends recently. I think if you want to motivate people to write, you should make an effort on commenting on those who do, too. Nobody's motivated to write for the EG when there is no feedback.

I'm not as pessimistic as some, there are some new people who contribute, they're just not as quick at writing entries as people like GB, Alex or Matt are.

I wouldn't go so far as to say PR is dying, just that it's struggling at the moment and we need some new blood. You're right, there are new people writing, which is great, but we need more.

Give the newly designed FP a chance, after all, things like the t-shirt challenge have brought people to writing entries they never thought of writing before. (I know it, I'm one of them ). The quote of the day is great. people now read the FP just to look for it. And once you're there, you just have a look at some other things, too. I'm sure it will get more people contributing on the long run.

Wow, Coming Up does look empty. I'm slowly working on an entry of my own at the moment, but perhaps I'll get a shifty on. And spend some more time commenting in PR.

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Mar 3, 2007
I haven't written anything in months. The last thing I wrote was the 12 entries of the Byzantium Project, which I finished at the end of December. I felt I needed a rest after that, but I could probably knock together a few entries.

I'm afraid I've got a lot to do at the moment - I'll be quite happy to help prop up Peer Review over the holidays, but now just isn't good.

I've one more idea in the pipes currently, but I think I've done my fair share for Peer Review (and the EG as a whole) recently, we've gone from 3 LEDs to 4 in PR! Yay!

You know, I get images of yellow birds flitting around Soho with drunken expressions and bumping into lampposts...
