Im tired of fighting to get on on the computer only to be disconnectedrather promptly or moving at a crawl.
If I am around less next week or later, it will because the computer is trying to be revived one last time. If this doesn't work I will call it dead I have had this thing 2 years but it has been
for 6 months or more.

I am sorry to hear about your computer abbi, I use library and school ones like that, so you have my sympathy...

Abbi, go & look at that thread you told me about, where nice folks are donating computer stuff! there are far more in USA than france, it's damn near impossible for me, but might be possible for you!
Please don't disappear, we NEED you! (& you need us too!)
If it's just temporary, in the meantime:
Maybe do some painting, reading (clip the goodies to post later), snail mail letters (you know where i am!)cook up some stuff to freeze ...give LOTS of extra s to hubby &
AND maybe have a decent rest & think about yourself for once! If the weather's nice, go sit & look at the view & dream a bit?

How is yours working Ellen?
It is always hard to guess when the guy will show up
There are always other things to do,I just want it fixed so I can talk to you all!
It can actually be a relief to quit wrestling with it when it is misbehaving.

Abbi, tell the computer from me that if it doesn't shape up I'll give it such a telling off.
It's amazing how slow the BBC servers are eh Smudge? My broadband moves at the speed of light and goes 2 miles an hour on here.

Hi TK, Yep! Im really chuffed with this Broadband, its only the 256Kps and it only cost me £4 a month more
Ive hit again by another hacker It was during my last week on Dial-Up
They ran up a £19 bill this time, and went to a porn channel, My ISP are being stroppy with my complaint, so I contacted ICSTIS.ork.uk and they are investigating it for me.
Glad Im Braodband now, so they cant hack me any more to watch their filth
Smudger.

Yes . That would seem to be the operative phrase, "hang in there", I'm frequently unplugging my beast here to keep it running 1/2 decently (& even that doesn't always work! *rolls eyes* & mutters a litany of curses aimed at Bill Gates or whoever...).
I'm planning to upgrade to Windows XP which I've heard has a built-in firewall. So ideally in mid June (or thereabouts) I'll get this thing eviscerated better than a Thanksgiving turkey & between my cousin - who does tech. support & my brother - who's dealt with the computers at work for years, I'll have a (crosses fingers & knocks on wood...& contemplates the proper offering to burn ) new, smoothly running system in July.

Jazz, the firewall in XP aint all that hot, mine sits disabled while I use the much better one I got from norton. XP itself is nice though.
