Madness is upon us!
Posted Apr 8, 2005
Beltane is approaching and the madness of spring is upon me .
Just to show that we pagans are not po-faced tree-huggers here is a selection of pagan humour/bumper stickers sent to me by a good friend:
Why did the Goddess create Whisky? To keep the Gaels from ruling the
world!
What's the best thing about Pagan friends?
They worship the ground you walk on...
"He is YOUR god. They are YOUR rules. YOU burn in Hell!"
What do ya' call 13 Witches in a hot tub? - Self Cleaning Coven
Get a taste for religion. Lick a witch!
What's the difference between New Age and Pagan? About $500 a weekend.
Please don't squeeze the shaman!
When God created men She must have been drunk and horny!
Sign in a Wiccan Bookstore: "No Shopliftning! Offenders will be
possessed! Second -time offenders will be re-possessed!"
Atheism is a non-prophet organization.
If ignorance is a bliss, why aren't more people happy?
There werewolf meets the fundamentalist on a dark road: "Born again,
huh?" (Flexing his claws.) "Wanna try if it works a third time?"
God is coming, and She's PISSED!
Ankh if you love Isis!
Hail to the Sun god! He's a real fun god! Ra, Ra, Ra!
Did you hear? Easter is cancelled this year.....yeah, they found the
body.
Why did the Zen Buddhist get reincarnated as a Pizza Supreme? He
wanted to be one with everything.
The God of war rode through one day, upon a handsome filly.
"I'm Thor!" he cried
The horse replied,
"You forgot your thaddle, thilly".
Merry Blessings!

Spring Equinox
Posted Mar 21, 2005
Spring is here! And so, just to depress you all, is one of my poems...
Bridey’s Song.
In the morning song I hear her,
Laughing by the water,
Every time she comes along,
She will sing a different song,
Which is why I’ve never caught her.
At the sunrise she is near me,
Whispering while I’m sleeping,
When I get out of my bed,
The poems have all fled,
Or strangely have no meaning.
Bridey, oh my Bridey!
Do you know what you do to me?
Thanks for all that you have said,
This golden fire in my head,
And for singing your song through me.
I am madden by her teasing,
Though I find it oh so pleasing,
I stumble and I break,
Throughout all the songs I make,
Yet her allure is unceasing.
Maybe one day she’ll reward me,
Near the end of this life’s journey,
Let me drink once from her grail,
Before my wit and reason fail,
And hear her song through clearly.
Bridey, oh my Bridey!
Do you know what you do to me?
Thanks for all that you have said,
The golden fire in my head,
And for singing your song through me.
Bright blessings for the coming of the light!

Imbolc!!
Posted Feb 2, 2005
Today is Imbolc, the feast of brigidh, my patroness. Thus I devote the folowing to her who inspired it:
Brigidh.
In the wind I hear her, her voice in the crows,
Her movement in the susurration of grasses in the breeze.
She comes to me on night borne wings of dark silk,
Her love spreading across the sky and parting the clouds.
In fire I see her, dancing in the candle’s flame,
Her hot breath down my spine,
The coals of her desire ignite my spirit,
Her fiery stare searing my pride.
The waterfall of her mind looses my thoughts,
And carries me through dreams of ancient bards,
Scattering the reeds of her azure intent,
And dashing after the dancing salmon of her laughter.
I return to the embrace of the earth,
The comfort of her cool touch calms me,
And I lie back beneath her trees,
Knowing that, like her, I am the stuff of stars.
Blessings,

Solstice greetings!!
Posted Dec 21, 2004
Solstice greetings all
Who can say it better than Jethro Tull?
Now is the solstice of the year.
Winter is the glad song that you hear.
Seven maids move in seven time.
Have the lads up ready in the line.
Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring Solstice Bells.
Ring, Solstice Bells.
Join together 'neath the Mistle-toe.
By the Holly oak where-on it grows.
Seven Druids dance in seven time.
Sing the song the Bells call loudly chime.
Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring Solstice Bells.
Ring, Solstice Bells.
Ring out. Ring out the Solstice Bells.
Ring out. Ring out the Solstice Bells.
Praise be to the distant sister Sun.
Joyful as the silver planets run.
Seven maids move in seven time.
Sing the song the Bells call loudly chime.
Ring out those bells.
Ring out, ring Solstice Bells.
Ring, Solstice Bells.
Ring out!
Ring out!
Ring out!
Ring out!
Bright blessings,

Apostasy & Heresy
Posted Nov 7, 2004
Apostasy - the refusal to believe something simply because someone says it is so.
Heresy - the courage to stand openly by that refusal.
By these, MY definitions, I stand as both an apostate and a heretic. This is certainly true in the light of the religion of my family for a thousand years - Roman Catholicism.
It was a faith my ancestors stood by and suffered for. However, the Church was ever ungrateful, only looking to those of noble blood to applaud and support.
Even now, as I walk in the sunny uplands of my chosen path, I remain both apostate and heretic. I that feel it is in my nature to question, to abjure the foolish and undermine the self-styled wise.
I will not bend my knee to any priest or king, and judge each upon their wit. Even those I recognise as Gods and Spirits of the Land I regard with a careful reverance, not obedience.
From such as these I seek to learn and grow, though I weigh their words and signs with a critical mind. I am ever aware that I stand upon the edge of an abyss.
The path is narrow and has many opportunities to fall into the madness that beckons the unwary, the proud and the foolish. If I am to serve this land and its peoples I must consider each step on the path in the knowledge of my own weaknesses and failings.
Apostasy is easy. It only requires a capacity to refuse.
Heresy takes courage. In my heresy I draw upon the courage of my Catholic ancestors, who openly resisted 400 years of Protestant oppression.
Before them were the norsemen who left their family lands for an uncertain future, rather than submit to the christianisation of Norway by a ruthless king.
Heretic then, heretic now.
Blood is blood.
Perhaps it is is the nature of my family to bleed for our pride and our apostasy.
I can't deny it and I shall not.
