I have no ideas what paper would classify as one round your area. Basically the only real difference is the size. Broadsheets are sit down and read at your desk papers, because there big, tabloids you can read on the bus, or on the train going to and from work.

They're about as tall as my torso, one leaf (folded) is about half of its height, and they're covered with black. We get the end rolls that haven't been printed on yet for puppy bedding when we have whelp.

if you knew then why did you ask?

I'll try and dig up some accurate measurements of Norwegian broadsheets, but I would guess that the British ones are even bigger...

I still don't know what a broadsheet is! Is it a newspaper and how does a broadsheet compare to a...something else that could be considered a newspaper/broadsheet to whatever?

A broadsheet is a newspaper thats bigger and generally more detailed, its what most papers here look like (no idea about there) its about 4 sheets of A4 lrage. A tabloid is about 1.5 A$ sheets large, contains little or no detail on the front page, and generally has a big shock heading like "MAN EATS DOG" which has no detail, and then the actual content on the inside. It is a industry definition of the size of the paper.

There was a project about designing a satirical newspaper frontpage in the media class at school. The results were hilarious...

I got the tabloid part, but is a newspaper a broadsheet?

darakat - Now with pockets! Posted May 6, 2004
there both newspapers, only one you wouldn't really call news (the tabloid)

I KNOW WHAT A TABLOID IS. Is or is not a broadsheet a newspaper that I realize is different from the grocery store tabloids?

Ok I don't think I can explain it to you without knowing your local papers sorry, both me and you are terribly confused and I suggest we just try and stop this now before we die of sheer confusion.

Tacysa Posted May 7, 2004
No. I'm not confused, but I don't know the difference between a broadsheet and a newspaper. Here's the Macon paper that I receive. Is or is not it a broadsheet? I know it's a newspaper.

Mr. Carrot Posted May 7, 2004
The only real definition of a broadsheet is that it's larger than the normal newspapers, and yes, it is a newspaper. It has the approximate size of two A3 sheets of paper, as opposed to the much more normal newspapers/tabloids, with a size of roughly two A4 sheets of paper. I can't tell the size of that newspaper from the website, I'm afraid.

Mr. Carrot Posted May 8, 2004
I still don't see why it's so difficult to understand the difference. Perhaps I should try and get a photo of a normal newspaper and a broadsheet, so you'll see for yourself.

Tacysa Posted May 8, 2004
I don't think it's worth the time, honestly. Our newspapers come in one size, and that's newspaper size. Tabloid, magazines, and pamphlets are completely different sizes.

How extremely dull. I love the broadsheets, they're so wonderfully impractical.

I love newspapers. They're so wholly informative.

Yes, they are. Much less biased than the news broadcasts, too.
