Something very odd happened early this morning. It was nearly 6 because I was already awake and thinking I should get up. Anyway, a music box on a bureau in my bedroom started playing all by itself. I hadn't wound it for yonks. No cats were nearby to have bumped it. I was petting Minerva when it happened and the others were all outside. It just started playing, did so for maybe 10 seconds then stopped again.

Earthquake? Perhaps one so mild so as not to be felt but with sympathetic vibrations that triggered the mechanism in the music box?

Hyp, I'm thinking about what we spoke of in July...

Has nothing to do with the Halloween story, which is shaping up to be a ripping good one, by the way.
We're too far from the New Madrid fault to feel the quakes unless they are big ones. In which case it would be on the news. My house is on the same limestone shelf as the dynamite plant. The last time it blew it shook my house. But again, it would be on the news.
Xantief, your theory would be lovely. I believe and I don't believe. And if anyone could pull it off.....

What was the tune? Is is up on "the bookcase"? I have my theories about it too and I'm not sure what you and Xantief talked about, but they may be right in line with what I think....

Speaking of angels, how is Seitzer Mae's foot?

Bro thinks it's better. She has been eating and drinking well through the whole ordeal so I don't think it's life threatening.
I haven't seen her today. I'll let you know if anything changes.

*hasn't got a single angel in the house. Wonders if it's unhealthy*

Leo, I started collecting angels back in the 60's - before it was trendy. So I have a lot of them. Actually, since so many people nowadays collect them, it has sort of spoiled the pleasure of it. You don't have to hunt them any more. They're too easy to find for it to be fun. And so many of them are tacky, which annoys me.

Lord C. and I collect antique bottles and also depression glass. I have a healthy collection of snowmen, which I put out at Christmas, and quite a few scarecrows, which are sneaking out in places now.
One or two of a kind is just that--three or more is a collection.

Hi Hypatia,
I have an angel in my house that has been passed on among friends for years. She is reputed to give good luck and I can attest to that. She is dressed in black velvet around a platic cone so I think she is supposed to sit on top of a tree... She lives on top of a corner unit in our living room. Visitors to our home have been quite spooked by her, saying she is macabre. I get very defensive about her I got her 4 years ago and she now needs passing on. She only goes to people to think she is beautiful as apparently she is not thought to be so by all - only those she can bring good things to. When are you coming over to the old country again?

Hi Wilma, nice to see you here. Your angel sounds delightful.
