Hypatia,
While in Lincoln, did you get chance to read the biography og Billy the Kid written by Sherriff Pat Garrett? The title is:
“The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid: The Noted Desperado of the Southwest, Whose Deeds of Daring and Blood Have Made His Name a Terror in New Mexico, Arizona, and Northern New Mexico by Pat F. Garrett, Sheriff of Lincoln County, N. Mex. By whom He was Finally Hunted Down and Captured by Killing Him.”

It was actually ghost-written by noted alcoholic Ash Upson, except for the last two chapters describing the actual killing of Billy.
Although evidence is being ammassed by the CURRENT sheriff of Lincoln County that Billy may not actually have died that night. See this breaking news:

My belated congratulations Hyp.
Now what changes are you going to make?

Try "Billy the Kid: A Short and Violent Life" by Robert Utley. It's comprehensive and, on the whole, sympathetic.

Jazz, the position of President is more honorary than anything. The italics are still in charge. What I actually hope to accomplish - not sure how just yet - is to raise the tone of the conversations somewhat. I will certainly promote netiquette. It would also be wonderful if everyone used continuity in the RPGs. And I especially want to encourage those researchers whose writing is more suitable for the UG and the Post than for the EG....let them know that we welcome and appreciate their contributions and that they are not second class citizens. And of course encourage the expansion of the EG. Having the University back is terrific, and I hope it takes off in a big way.

Any chance of persueding people not to take this place so seriously, this place used to be fun, now it's becoming a little too much like RL

Excellent idea. I've read some of the really early stuff and it was light hearted and whimsical and just plain fun. We could use some of that. There are too many angry people about these days.

Amen to that, any chance of compulsary be-nice-to-the-post-staff days, today's post launching has been more cr@p than usual and I can't take anymore

Actually I have a couple of ideas in the very early formative stages. A banquet to honor the Post staff and regular contributors, for one.
