You can include me as a 'j.o.a.t.' - good site xyroth.
We don't restrict subjects, in fact I find the more experts you have for a subject the more they dissagree.

certainly. I assume that you would like a link of the nexialist pals page at http://www.xyroth-enterprises.co.uk/nexpals.htm so would you like it to link to your h2g2 user page, or are you going to give me the link to your website.
ps if you like my site, you will probably love zyra's site, which is a lot bigger (over 1000 pages) at http://www.zyra.org.uk/

Can I claim linguistics? I realise xyroth has already claimed this, but he's got 6 or 7 other subjects too.

There's no restriction to what you claim - the more, the merrier.

Does anyone know anything about Celiac's disease, my 10 year old niece has been diagnosed with this condition and I need as much information as I can lay my hands on. I would be grateful for anyones help.

xyroth Posted Sep 2, 2002
coeliac disease is an intollerance to the gluey stuff (called gluten) found in wheat and often used as an additive in chinese cookery. it causes problems by causing the villi in the gut not to work properly, but luckily they usually recover a little while after you remove gluten from your diet.
there is now quite a bit of gluten free food available, a lot of it available on prescription (in the uk) so if your daughter gets her prescriptions free, you can get bread (loaves and rolls), biscuits (both chocolate and plain) and a number of other foods via your doctor. you can also get gluten free flour as well.
there is quite a bit of stuff over on zyra's website on his coeliac page at http://www.zyra.org.uk/coeliac.htm
zyra's page also links to the coeliac society who do a largish booklet containing a comprehensive list of gluten free food (I vaguely remember it being free, but that was a while ago so you will have to check).
I hope this helps.

ok I am pretty much a jack of all trades so my list starts here(can I come back and add things?)
writing poetry(nothing about reading it)
History (mainly european but also some asian)
philosophy(well I do a lot of the stuff but don't read many books on it)
polotics(well the way its upposed to work of course its not like it does)
Vintage cars(not much but I know a bit)
science (mainly chemistry and physics but some other stuff too)
A lot of general knowledge
I can't list everything can I just say I would make an exelent socioty and enviroment teacher and be done with it?
I need information
Mark Beeblebrox Posted Sep 5, 2002
thanks for the info, I visited the site you recomended, it was very informative and useful. I understand the condition a little more now, and thanks to you, (and the site), have located a gluten free food supplier.
I am confident that my daughter wont have to feel left out when her friends are eating their cakes and things.
Once again, thanks for your help.

xyroth Posted Sep 6, 2002
you're welcome.
don't forget that as long as she gets free prescriptions, the best source of gluten free food is your doctor (because it costs you nothing).
