Hi
psychocandy-moderation team leader Started conversation Dec 26, 2006
Thanks for the kind holiday greetings. Hope you won't be a stranger? While I don't have as much online time as I once did, I do enjoy a bit of stimulating discussion once in a while- especially in regards to film and music and stuff.
Hope your holiday finds you well, and that you've had some fun. I wish we'd had some sprouts... turkey and ham ain't my thang, you know?
I'd love to hear from you again sometime soon. If this is too public a place for it- feel free to ignore this posting and get on with it.
Toodle pip. Wishing a very happy, healthy & propserous New Year to you and those you love.

Hi
I don't have home access for the forseeable so only get online myself briefly at work, or in the library. I'd love to stay in touch with you though, but it might be better by email since I'm trying to limit my presence, just filling time on some of the goofier Ask threads really. I'll be in touch sometime soon.
Happy New Year to you and yours too.
Hi
psychocandy-moderation team leader Posted Dec 28, 2006
I don't get online much from home myself- in spite of broadband access- and also get on mainly from work. Which some days means a goodly amount and some days not at all, depending on how motivated I feel to get any actual w*rk done.
Email works for me. I check there more frequently.
Wanted to comment really quickly about "Intacto"... I haven't seen that one, actually, but I'm quite a fan of Max von Sydow. If you haven't seen them, I recommend "The Virgin Spring" (inspiration for Wes Craven's violent- but good- revenge flick "Last House on the Left") and "The Seventh Seal"; both are Bergman flicks.
And with that, I'll shut up till you have the chance to send that email. See you.

Sounds good. I remember hearing about Last House and thinking it sounded a little too rich for my blood, but will investigate. A quick word about Intacto though; it's a great movie without a shadow of a doubt but it concerns people with an insane capacity for luck, which often involves surviving horrific accidents when others didn't; so proceed with caution.

No worries- movies don't bother me at all. I appreciate the heads-up, though. "The Virgin Spring" obviously follows the same plot, but isn't as graphically violent- it's more implied (which I've found can sometimes be a bit more effective). If you do check out "Last House" at some point, it really is quite violent, and I don't assume everyone has my tolerance threshold, so be warned.

It might get a bit much, but a lot of it's to do with context for me. Where and how, that sort of thing. I saw 8mm recently and it turned my stomach. But if I see any Hellraiser, I just end up laughing.
Have emailed you. Take care

It's 4:07 PM here on New Year's Eve- which means 10:07 PM your time. So, it's near enough time (we've just ordered Indian for dinner) to wish you a very happy new year.
Wishing you all the best of health, luck, prosperity, love and all the best things life has to offer (there's quite a lot, you know! ) for the next year.

I didn't want to drag the films thread too far back into the backlog... "The Golem" is great. I'm assuming your film class will be viewing the original silent film, as opposed to the 70s-era remake with Roddy McDowell (although that one's a bit of fun, too ). I own "The Golem"- there's a distribution outfit here that grabs public domain stuff and puts out dirt-cheap, stripped-down (no extra features, cover art but no liner notes) DVDs for $3- $5 each. They also appear to do liquidations/remainders: I got the complete Monty Python box set for $49 instead of $149 retail.
Hi
Researcher U197087 Posted Jan 15, 2007
It is the original, but I'm curious about the other one too now. Roddy McDowall's great. When you say the complete Python box set; do you mean the movies, or their entire output of shows?
Come and play Deathlist 2007 F19585?thread=3774132&latest=1
Hi
psychocandy-moderation team leader Posted Jan 19, 2007
Sorry for the lag time- what a week!
By the complete Python box set I meant the entire output of TV shows. Have all the movies, too, thankfully.
I hate playing those Deathlist games... when my picks croak, I wind up feeling all . When they don't, I just feel stupid.

Oh, yeah... and if you can handle a bit of cinematic violence without too much ill effect, check this one out: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0354668/. Parody. Violence. Comedy. Freaks. Aliens? This flick has damn near everything. And it made me laugh my ass off.
Hi
Researcher U197087 Posted Jan 20, 2007
The equivalent of £25 for the full Monty sounds like a very good deal.
I do like the sound of Save The Green Planet, will give it a look when I can. And I have some ethical worries about Deathlist too (with the exception of Geoffrey Boycott, and 50 Cent).
Hi
psychocandy-moderation team leader Posted Jan 20, 2007
Yeah, if you can kil off 50 Cent, you'll be an international hero of epic proportions.

Yo.
Watched a film last night I think you might like. Can't send a copy, as it's on video and I haven't got that sorted yet. It's "Tales of the Gimli Hospital", by Guy Maddin. Short- about an hour and a quarter. It was really . If you can find it, I recommend it. Kind of like a cross between Bergman and Fellini, with a bit of a '20s-era vibe. Loved it.

Sounds moody - probably the sort of thing that would take a lot of digging to find, but I'll bear it in mind. Thanks for the tip.
How's the schnozz?
Hi
psychocandy-moderation team leader Posted Mar 1, 2007
I'm certain it's been released on DVD, but the video shop only had the video in at the moment and I really wanted to see it Right Now.
The nose is feeling OK. I can smell and breathe just fine, and there's no pain unless it's touched. It didn't really hurt much after Saturday. I scraped the side of my left hand, kind of like when you fall and skin your knees on the sidewalk, or a really bad carpet burn... that still smarts a bit. I still have a shiner under each eye, too. I'm hoping the raccoon look comes back into vogue. It'll save me a fortune on eye liner.
How's you?
Hi
Researcher U197087 Posted Mar 1, 2007
Damn, painful on several levels. Hope you heal up quickly.
Me, I'm okay, I guess. Just got my contract started today, after 3 years wait, and already I want to quit. But I'm taking a trip across town hopefully to buy a 40G mp3 player from him for £45. That's £1.12 and a half a Gig
