Hi

Sorry I missed the last message. "No Blockheads, no Tentacles. As the doorman said to Cthulhu" cracked me up! Good one.

Did you like the "Ladykillers" remake, then? I didn't expect to- but I actually did. What a pleasant surprise that was.

Glad you liked "The Loved One". Had a feeling you would. I'd read the book in my younger days, but never saw the movie until K brought it over on video, probably the second or third time we had a movie night. I guess it was sort of a litmus test- and I apparently passed with flying colors. smiley - laugh Mr. Joyboy's mother reminds me of mine... I almost wet myself laughing at that part.

Terry Southern had a part in the screenplay, which I think explains the bizarre treat part. smiley - winkeye

I was quite proud of that one smiley - winkeye though there might still be a chance. My boss is loaning me a sleeping bag, so I've just got to cover tent, my share of the petrol and obviously, sooner or later, the ticket.

I wasn't crazy about the remake of Ladykillers; though Tom Hanks was fun, I guess I'm too enthusiastic about the original, and Alec Guinness' great turn.

Bizarre to see Liberace in Loved One, he was cool. And Roddy McD too. Terry Southern had a part in one of my favourite old movies aswell, Casino Royale, a hilarious mess.

And it seems pretty obvious you and K are truly Bashert. smiley - smiley

Hi

I have tried three times, and Terry Southern notwithstanding, I just do not like "Casino Royale". The original "Ladykillers" was cool, though.

I get such a bit kick out of the names for some of Waugh's characters in "The Loved One". Yeah, good twisted fun!

Hope you manage to make it- sounds like a lot of fun!!

You know, I might well find Liberace funny in darn near anything. And Paul Williams (little Gunther Fry). Have you ever seen "The Phantom of the Paradise"? Another of K's favorites- a glam rock Phantom of the Opera. With more shots involving Paul Williams' nipples than necessary, perhaps...

Hi

Not familiar with that one... will investigate when I can get past the "anything remotely fun except h2" filter we have at work.

Hi

Researcher U197087

That's a weird one! I had a look back at Paul Williams' History, the only thing I could recognise was Virgil in Battle For The Planet Of The Apes. smiley - erm

Hi

Post 86

I know I've seen him in other stuff, can't remember what all else... "Smokey & the Bandit" (I can live without seeing that one again), "The Muppet Movie", that's it, other than perhaps an odd TV episode when I was a young'un.

Either way I could have lived my whole life without having seen his nipples, and would be just fine. smiley - winkeye

Hi

Yeah, nipples are overrated, on blokes anyway.

Happy Birthday! smiley - hug

Hi

Thank you! Another one nearly over with. Yay!

Thought of another movie you might enjoy. K's got it on DVD and watched it Monday evening. "Fear of a Black Hat"? The rap version of "Spinal Tap", featuring a band very much like NWA. It's pretty funny.

Hi

Looked it up, it looks fun. I saw CB4 ages ago and loved that one, maybe this'll be better. I do definitely enjoy stupid-looking rappers. You should check out Goldie Lookin' Chain, Wales' own gangsta act, featuring guys called Maggot and 2Hats.

"Guns don't kill people, rappers do!
I saw it on a documentary on BBC2!"

Did you see Kung Pow? That's a recent fave of mine. Chop socky to the sound of Sir Mixalot. I heartily approve of that!

The Aristocrats is on tonight. Should I bother?

Have a lovely day smiley - biggrin

Hi

I hated the Aristocrats with a burning passion. I wouldn't even give it half a star. It was the same joke, over and over... and sounded good on principle. But the joke wasn't funny. And neither were any of the renderings of it. The only funny bit was some British comedian guy (can't say who it was) using the phrase THUNDEROUS FART. Farts are always funny.

Maybe you'll enjoy it, I dunno.

I'll have to check out those Welsh ganstas. smiley - laugh Will include "Fear of a Black Hat" in the next care package. Then you'll see why the simple phrase "bust a cap in yo ass" makes me laugh EVERY time I hear it...

Hi

I'll definitely look forward to that one! smiley - cheers in advance.

I'll tape Aristocrats, just to satisfy curiosity I suppose.

Hi

Motion carried on The Aristocrats. Bunch of third-rate comics, more familiar to me as sidekicks from actioners, masturbating over each other. At least the Steven Wright bit had a bit of moral comment.

I missed the Thunderous Fart reference but I established the Brit comic was either Billy Connolly (lanky Scot, beardy, very funny) or Eddie Izzard (short Englishman, transvestite, sometimes quite funny).

Have a nice weekend. smiley - smiley

Hi

Watched Scotland PA and City Of Lost Children last weekend. Loved both very much, the weirdest Shakey adaptation I've ever seen, and I found City even more enthralling than Delicatessen. No doubt Si & Mary will enjoy it as much too.

Thanks yet again! smiley - smiley

Hi

You're most welcome. I had a feeling you'd appreciate them both.

I think I am finally over the hump and will be somewhat less busy this week than I have been in previous weeks. It's been insane here. Hence the rapid succession of drive-by postings followed by disappearances for several days. smiley - winkeye

How's things with you?

Hi

Post 95

Researcher U197087

Okay - my bosses are campaigning for me to be put up the pay scale to a point commensurate with 3 years experience. I'm not holding my breath, but they seem pretty positive. Otherwise not much going on.

Glad things are calming down for you; did you take to anything else on those CDs?

Hi

Post 96

I haven't even had the chance to *listen* all the way through. I probably could bring it to work and listen here... why I haven't thought of that yet, I don't know. I've got a stack of Netflix and some movies a friend gave us to watch as well.

"Pan's Labyrinth" is on its way from Netflix. I should hopefully get it see it between today and Saturday night. smiley - ok

Hi

Researcher U197087

Enjoy. You'll probably want to protect your colleagues from some of the 'Deth, though smiley - laugh

Hi

Post 98

Watched "Pan's Labyrinth" this evening. It was good- better than OK, but not great. I'd rate it 6.5 out of 10. Not that I didn't enjoy it, mind, it was engaging and entertaining... just that after all of the rave reviews, I expected it to be breathtaking.

Hi

Sorry it didn't wow you so much, but glad you still enjoyed it.
