Hmmmm....how very weird. Poor K has to eat cat food, washed down with soda, there are a bunch of thugs coming round tonight to sort out a previous argument & meanwhile you are going to sit outside & wait for some other guy to arrive?
More importantly I Have A Spot. On my face.Left cheek.
Even more importantly, viking also Has A Spot. On his bottom. Right cheek.
He suspects a has maliciously bitten him; i did say "well dearest one, if you will sleep naked with your lovely little bot tempting poor lady
what do you expect?"

Poor Viking's bottom. And poor your face. Quick question, though... for you both to have gotten spots, were you lying cheek to cheek? If so, I wonder *who* nibbled his bum?
I'd better stop now before I get into BIG trouble...
Hadn't thought about giving K cat food. Herman porbably wouldn't want to share. He certainly doesn't like sharing his chair. We've a gold recling chair, not terribly big or bulky, under the living room window between the end table in the corner near the couch, and the orange naugahyde chair. Herman sleeps in it all day long. Thursday night I was sitting in it to read, and he was meowing at me to get out of it. When I got home from work yesterday, he's barfed all over it, presumably to keep me from sitting in it?
*hopes Terri won't start with double-entendre related to UPS guy/package/etc. It never fails...*

would I????
So how big is his package huh? obviously too big to just slip it into your box without you noticing, or you wouldn't be hanging around waiting to take it from his hands personally.
Yours was no problem; nice lady rang the bell & i drooped limply out of the window & she said "i will leave it on the doorstep for you"
the spots were acquired separately, he arrived already having applied a nice little round band aid to his bum; mine appeared after he had gone, so i am hoping this isn't some evil contagious thing, it would be a good video for you "Revenge of the killer spot"
meanwhile i have found a frog eating bat clip, which caused much sniggering at my end (as it were) *if* i ever succeed in doing a link it might amuse you too...

PC did you get your book? Have you finished it yet?!
I have just finished reading 'The Looking Glass Wars' by Frank Beddor. Its the true story of Alice in Wonderland, with violence and magic and she lives in Wonderland and comes to our world to escape death, as opposed to the other version. Its very good and the caterpillers are really cool, you'll only like it though if you appreciated the original story.

Hi Kaz, I did get my book. It arrived with the mail yesterday afternoon. Effing idiots at UPS shipped the parcels to the post office for delivery and didn't update their online info.
Anyway, I finished it last evening and I enjoyed it very much. The plot wasn't as tight as in past books, but it continued the pattern I've noticed of getting progressively more "mature", or sophisticated, with each subsequent book. And it left me anxious to read the final installment.
I won't give away any secrets, but if you have to wait a year for the paperback, Kaz, can you borrow a copy from the local library? I'd loan you mine, but it'd probably cost more to ship back and forth than to purchase a new copy now.
We also watched another movie last night and ordered in some dinner from the cheap place with the daily specials. I am such a slacker, I haven't cooked but one night this week! It's been too hot!! I did, however, chop up a couple of pineapples, so that counts for something.
Hopefully another nice relaxing day ahead. I've enjoyed all of the links and other sillness you all have been leaving here. Keep it coming!!

PS, Kaz, I forgot to say that the book you've just finished sounds really cool. I loved "Alice in Wonderland" very much, the original story not the modified one found in many children's books. K and I have a couple different film versions in our Netflix queue- not the Disney type stuff, but the darker ones. I think one of them is the Svankmejer (sp?) version...

I am not sure I have read the original story, just the childrens story. How would I find it, if its written by the same person? Also, I would love to hear more about those films.

Well, if you've read Lewis Carroll's story, it's the original. Disney et. al. have done other versions which aren't quite the same thing.
Jan Svankmajer did a movie called "Alice", which K has seen and I haven't, based on the book. There's others which I'll find details of for you. Check "Alice", though, it's supposed to be super surreal and very enjoyable!
Here's a link to IMDb's "Alice" listing: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095715/!

Oh dear...how embarassing to admit...but my financial dire straits aren't caused by bouncing pay checks, but by own incompetence in the field of financial management.
They say 'Never look behind your cooker! If you do, you'll have to clean it.' Well, that is unfortunately pretty much my attitude to my bank account. Thus it was that, while on holiday, I managed to go so far beyond my overdraft limit that they wouldn't let me have any more money. Oops! . Seems I'm in a bit of a hole that I wasn't even aware of digging...and my car needs fixing and when we tried to wash our holiday clothes, we found that the washing machine motor had burnt out...

Welcome back, Edward!
When it rains, it pours, eh? It's so easy, though, to lose track of the checking account. I can only keep track through a combination of duplicate checks (carbon pages in my checkbook), online banking, and Microsoft Money on my home PC. The outgo is a lot easier to lose track of than in the income, cause there can be so much of it, in small increments that are easily forgotten about until you're in a hole and looking at a big old overdraft.
Hope your car and washing machine get fixed soon, and the overdraft doesn't wind up costing you too much in fees. I hate giving the banks any more money than they deserve.
Glad you made it back from vacation safe and sound.

I had a similar experience on our weekend in Prague a couple of weeks ago - there I was confidently attempting to buy a round of drinks at the bar, only for my bank to refuse to give me any more money. So I nipped out to the cashpoint and tried again. It's actually quite scary that I got £300 over my overdraft limit before they put the block on it.
That's the trouble with being used to Euros when you go abroad - you lose the ability to get your head round the value of foreign currency quickly...
'Another Girl Another Planet', by the way?

Curse you, No 6! I hate having to change my name twice in one day!
Jaysus, though...how big was the round? You can get a bottle of Budvar for about 40p/60¢(US/Euro)!

I get messed up when traveling abroad and attempting to keep track of how much I've spent in the local currency vs. US dollars, as well. I usually try to bring traveler's cheques qhich I can then convert into local currency.
It's better that way, as my credit card provider charges me a 13% currency conversion surcharge for every foreign transaction, including in cases where I order stuff from overseas. Greedy b******s!!
Last time I traveled abroad, I cashed in all my currency at the currency exchange at the train terminal near the airport, only to have the prime rate change drastically the following day. That's the luck I always have!

Well, it was a stag weekend and there were about 20 of us...
My latest one was guessed more or less instantly as well if that's any consolation - although I did make it deliberately easy as the last one had lasted a week and a half.
