OK, so one vote for "Death Race 2000", and one that I'm perverse. Perfect!
Not trying to send any specific message- most of K's friends would like any of the above, and the ones who didn't would love being annoyed enough to watch anyway.

I only recognise 4 of those, and 2 of them because you sent them to me
Another vote for Death Race 2000. Gotta be Grindhouse, right?

Duly noted!
If K ever gets around to providing me with what will turn out to be a guest list, I can book the event soon.

Well, we're getting there.
The Friday before K's birthday is booked, but the Saturday is available.
As far as guests go, I've decided that a MySpace bulletin, an eVite, and some word of mouth should do the trick. Recent get-togethers at assorted friends' homes have brought several dozen people, so I think we're going to go with the cash concessions stand. Whether or not I can *afford* to pay several hundred dollars for snacks, I'd rather not, and most input I've gotten from K's friends has indicated they wouldn't mind.
"Death Race 2000" is definitely a possibility. I've also been given one other solid option- "Bedazzled". They can play VHS tapes, so that opens up other possibilities as well.

Hmm. I can't see 1984 or Blue Velvet as party movies, somehow.
1984: Annie Lennox is on Desert Island Disks this week. Wasn't trhere a controversy over The Eurythmics being tacked onto the soundtrack against the director's wishes?

Vix, we own all of the ones you mentioned. But yeah, Ed's point about a couple of those not quite being party movies is a good one. And K isn't as big a fan of Lynch as I am... I'm thinking I should bring one of his faves rather than one that's just one of mine.
Of course, I won't be showing "O Lucky Man!" at $50 an hour.
K just found himself a relatively inexpensive DVD copy of "Bedazzled", which we owned on VHS already. It's one of his favorites, too, and light enough for everyone to enjoy. Plus a little Raquel Welch for the fellas. So I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with that.

"Barbarella" is definitely in the right spirit, though.

I didn't like that as much as I thought I would, maybe I wasn't in "the mood" sometimes I can watch something again later and think it's the best thing since sliced bread...
Fickle is me, I guess...

When Koyaanisqatsi came out - ooh, mumblemumble years ago - I think I saw it three times in a week. Not a party movie, though. Unless your party involves the ingestion of nefarious chemicals.

I didn't actually care for it much, either. "Decasia" was cool, though.

Neither of those...but after imdb'ing - looks like I should. It was the score to Koyaanisqatsi I particularly liked, though.
