Oh, that reminds me of another one. I had an appointment for a szintigram of my thyroid gland. Now the praxis where I went is a nuclear medicine only, meaning they have no emergencies, but they still make you wait for a few hours. So this time, I thought I'd only give them my referral note if they'd call me within 30 minutes of arrival. I went there and told them who I was, and sure enough, they asked me for the referral note. I told them I would give it to them if they didn't let me wait for too long. They looked in their book where they write down the appointments - I was a week early.

Ooh, all right. This had got to be one of the dumbest things I EVER did!
I once bought a book from that well known digest thingy - the one where you have a chance of winning some HUGE prize, but usually turned into a shopping bag when your number comes out
We'ellll... I Got That Shopping Bag!
I also received a statement for the said book and duly sent off the cheque with my signature on it (did I mention the offer was actually for my then husband? No? Oh, well it was and this bit is important)
A month or so later I received a reminder for payment, and just ignored it - as one does.
About six months later I received a nasty letter threatening me with court action (looks at M'lady ). Well, I got a bit shirty here and sent a rather nasty letter back.
I told them that they had cashed the cheque and if they couldn't keep their books up to date, then they needed to employ staff that could!
I received a lovely letter of apology from their head office and was then put on their 'most important' list for more offers!
Feeling somewhat vindicated and rather pleased with myself, I proceeded to tell friends and family of my victory. Can you imagine how I felt when, a few weeks later, I was looking for something in that shopping bag and opened the zipper part on the outside - only to find the stamped addressed envelope just waiting to be posted!
I blame my pregnancy with VV for making my memory turn to mush

Ahhhh I see what has happened here
Just in the nick of time there Lil ...... and they managed to cash your cheque even though it was still in the envelope.
There's nothing like that sinking feeling when you realise you've mead an a$$ of yourself .... I get that feeling way too often.
