h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

This week was very busy.


Daughter was playing Dodger in her school production The Sound of Musicals so she was out Wed, Thurs and Friday night ... until late.


We went on Friday night and it was marvellous - they did excerpts from The Sound of Music, Lion King, Oliver, Calamity Jane, Oklahoma, Phantom and Les Mis and they were all terrific and very well staged.


Daughter's section was the only one with dialogue and *actual* acting as well as the characters singing so she was well churffed when a member of the visiting jazz band commented that she's going to end up on Broadway. This pleased her because he wasn't family or any one of the teachers at school - but a professional musician - and that makes his opinion worth a dozen of ours.


The evening was topped off when several people recognised her out of costume on the way out and told her she was brilliant!! Looks like all those years of amdram are beginning to pay off.


Back to porridge yesterday and today though ...... rehearsals for JC Superstar

Well I admit we were rather proud.


She was the toast of the school ..... and only in first year.

Well I feel a bit better and sister is very well in herself .... if you see what I mean.

Cousin is just waiting in limbo until the end of the month and the manual is disappearing for a 2 week break - which gives us all a break.

Things aren't exactly normal but they're not far off normal for me.

As long as you can still make jokes about it all it's hopefully not too bad.

Oh there's always a funny side - and things are never, ever as bad as they seem.

No, sometimes they're worse.

This is also true.


My other sister was telling me about a friend of hers whose daugher is going into hospital to have a breast removed at the same time as our elderly cousin. The girl is just 14 years old - so I'd say that's pretty bad - you'd have to go some to be as bad as that. Our cousin has has grandchildren and great-grandchildren, so while she's in a bad position - that little girl is in a much worse one.


I certainly know how to bring a happy journal down - don't I.

So you do.

Let's get back to happy then. Only five days till I go to London.

Yeah ..... and I'm not going.

Sounds like she's doing you proud, Fizzy! Well done to both of you (I'm sure she wouldn't be where she is now if it wasn't for you)!

Oh, and as for the weather - I heard rumours of a mini heat-wave heading this way by Friday, and maybe Saturday.

And possible thunderstorms on Sunday...
