Did you get my email about the simplest way to quit having people remind you to update the Milestones page? I sent it a few days ago, and was wondering if hotmail ate it or something.
Pie, Lady Scott?
Lady Scott Posted Jul 25, 2006
Oh I'm sorry, I rarely ever even look at hotmail any more...
I think that's been taken care of though. I finally posted on 3N telling them to decide who would take care of it, and told them to feel free to steal the code from it.

So the 'eeny meeny miney moe' between the email addresses ended wrong, huh?
I don't think anyone did anything, and the method I described in the email would leave the A number the same so that Clive wouldn't have to change anything on the Manifesto page Not a whole lot of work for the transfer, either

Thought you'd like that aspect
So, once I'm caught up with backlog (and have run the errands I need to do today--out of (except for powdered)) I'll start updating... *looks at page* Oops, it shows you as editor, Lady Scott, which means that there must be more to assigning it than I thought--I can't do anything
There's gurus in this convo! Clive, Happy, anyone that may be lurking, other than taking Lady Scott's Unumber off the entry entirely (I'd like to give her credit, since she started the page, after all, and did all the hard work--I just basically have to copy her coding) is there any way to put me as editor and her as the 'Written and Researched by' person? Of course, if her name *does* have to be removed completely, I'll write something in the body

My advice - Open two windoes in one create a new guide entry with yourself as editor.
In the other load up Lady Scott's Milestone's page.
On the Milestones posting page edit the URL in the address line of your broswer from
/dna/h2g2/A12345678
to
/dna/h2g2/test12345678
You can then see the GuideML Lady scott used to create the Milestones page.
In the "test" window: right click, select all, copy and paste all that information over to the other open window with you new Guide Entry.
Add Lady sCott as a co author and create the guide Entry.
Let me know what the new A number is for the Milestones page you just created and I'll edit the link on the manifesto to direct Thingites to your page - and I'll credit you and Lady scott for running it past and present.
Hows that?
Clive

Though I'd really thought just putting me in the box down below would do it (I did tell Lady Scott to remove herself, though...) I can do that now, while I'm waiting for my download to finish, then I'll let you know the A number once it's caught up (and take my name off the original, since there's the link up top to do that)

Copied and name removed from original
I don't have time to update ATM, so I'll wait to give the A number

In case it gets buried on 3N

I'd removed my number, but it automatically retains it as editor, apparently.
But it's all sorted out now.
Thanks for taking it over - and enjoy!

You're welcome, and I will
I even made sure to tell folks to not bug you about updating it anymore--of course, whether or not anyone pays *attention* to that...

This is updated footnote.
--------------------------
Lady Scott used to keep a list of who everyone who had snatched a 'thousandth' posting in N3. (You can see who got what on the N3 Milestone Postings page).
This Duty is now ably handled by the unmistakable Amy Pawolski - so if you snatch a Thousandth Milestone and want to be included in our legend, please bug her instead and leave Lady Scott alone get some serious napping done.
Keep track of how large N3 Grows with the tracker at the top of the Manifesto.
