Oh, what a delight it is to be typing on a real keyboard instead of my phone.
Today has been an exciting day. The building company got back to us with a quote for part exchanging our house, and it was actually just about the figure we needed. Given that they added an extra ten grand on top of the figure the estate agents (apparently) quoted, we think they knew we would turn them down so tried to pad out the figure to get the sale. It worked - we've already called up the mortgage company who have approved the lending and we're going down there tomorrow to give them a deposit.
We'll be in by the 21st of December, possibly even sooner if the mortgage gets approved quickly. Gosh!
-------
hasn't had such a good day as his fear of other babies squealing got in the way of his enjoyment at Sing & Sign today. There's not a lot to be done except keep trying to acclimatise him and distract him, but it's frustrting to have him sobbing and clinging to be because another baby was happy near him. It was also another bad night for a reason that we can't fathom. He kept on whimpering in his sleep and only wanting to sleep when held, which is unusual for him. Paracetamol and ibuprofen didn't seem to help. My only thought is that he's in mental pain, rather than physical, so nightmares or something. But who knows, all we can do is keep trying. This too shall pass...
-------
And finally, our new computer, which we ordered before we thought about all this house business, arrived this afternoon. It's a Windows 8 touchscreen (although apparently there aren't any drivers for the actual touchscreen part that we can find, which rather ruins the point of buying one ).
-------
So, all in all, a rather interesting day. Now to do the less interesting things, such as doing the washing up and getting an early night (as usual).

It is exciting! We've been down and signed a few things, so it's getting quite official now.
In preparation we made a couple of trips to the recycling centre to get rid of done stuff that's cluttering up the garage, including the large boxes of DVDs. We took out the actual DVDs first, of course, and they happily fit in

... a single plastic bag, which is much more efficient!
Apologies for the split post, but my phone randomly decided it didn't want the keyboard to work anymore.
Aside from that it has been a quiet day. Mr Vip took Luke out at 6am to let me get some more sleep, which was very welcome but not enough to counter the deficit! Still, can't complain, it could be worse.

I thought you might have typing on your phone again
would you like to elaborate on why Christmas is so wangsty? Or if you are too rushed, sleep would be better, don't mind me, thank you for new word though

Last night was a bit better in sleep terms for Luke, although because he is still whimpering in his sleep I'm still having broken sleep. He didn't want to get up until 7am ths morning, which is so much better than the last few weeks. All we need now is for him to no longer need to whimper and we'll e back to something approaching normality (until the next batch of teeth appear, obviously).
Today will be spent doing more house things, wooooo. Is that sarcasm? I don't actually know.any more...

Argh, sleep FAIL. However, house move still a go.
This morning was spent in the company of a lovely fellow mum who I really hope will become a closer friend. We have quite similar outlooks on life and parenting which, while not a necessity, it quite nice when your own views are a bit outside the norm. Plus her son doesn't squeal in excitement which means that is less likely to have a sobbing meltdown because another baby was happy at him. Yay!

It really is a time for massive brain development for at the moment. Last night he added hauling himself to both a sitting and a standing position to his repertoire. Which means I've got to drop his cot down to the bottom setting so he can't fall out. *makes mental note to find the screwdriver today*
Those things are exciting, of course, but I wish he wouldn't throw these tantrums when I stop holding him up. At the moment he just wants to be walking, and if I stop he wails until I do. Most people report that when their kids learn to crawl they get less frustrated, but is giving me a taste of what he's going to be like when he's three.
The night cries in his sleep didn't occur last night, which is positive, but the one o'clock wake up once again ended with Mr Vip taking him back to bed with him, and the 4:30 feed was the end of the line in terms of sleep for me. He's asleep now, of course, but in the car so I don't get to sleep too (this car is not comfy to sleep I'm, unfortunately).
I'm pretty sure (in my more lucid moments) that all this waking is just a phase while his poor little brain is going into overdrive. It doesn't get me more sleep but it does make me feel better about it. I just need to keep up on the boob milk and perhaps have fish twice a week instead of once, and I'm sure it'll pass. This to shall pass, this tooshall pass...

You make the most of it Vip. Just wait 'til gets to the 'why?' stage! That's really wonderful. Number 1 Daughter is now 29 years old and still uses the word with irritating regularity.
